Some Run Returns to Bruce Central Park with $500 Cash Prizes on the Line

Runners across Seagoville, Crandall, and Combine have a new date circled on the calendar. The sixth annual Some Run returns to Bruce Central Park on Saturday, October 3, 2026, bringing a timed 5K, a 5K walk, a scenic half mile shuffle around the pond, and thousands of dollars in cash prizes, all in support of the A T Children’s Project.

The race, held each fall at 1801 N Hwy 175 in Seagoville, benefits research and family support for Ataxia Telangiectasia, a rare genetic disease that causes progressive loss of muscle control, immune system complications, and an elevated risk of cancer in children. According to the A T Children’s Project, “Some run, some walk, some roll, some ride and some shuffle, but we all make a difference,” a motto that has become the heartbeat of the annual event.

Cash Prizes on the Line

This year’s timed 5K run carries significant cash incentives for top finishers, courtesy of HomeBank Texas. The prize structure is as follows.

  • First place male runner: $500 cash
  • First place female runner: $500 cash
  • Second place male runner: $250 cash
  • Second place female runner: $250 cash
  • Third place male runner: $125 cash
  • Third place female runner: $125 cash

Awards will also be presented for the top finisher in each age group, and team prizes will recognize the largest groups to register together. Organizers noted that additional prizes will be announced closer to race day, along with special recognition for every registered team.

Something for Everyone

Event organizers have built the Some Run around an inclusive philosophy captured in the event’s own tagline: “If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then shuffle. If you can’t shuffle, then roll. If you can’t roll, then volunteer. If you can’t volunteer, then sponsor.” Participants who cannot attend in person may register for the $20 virtual option or the lighthearted “Stay In Bed” package.

In person, participants can choose the challenging timed 5K run, a relaxed 5K walk or roll, or the shorter half mile shuffle around the park pond. According to the event’s official Race Roster page, participants should plan to be in the park and ready to line up by 7:15 a.m., with the race beginning shortly after.

Runners and walkers are also encouraged to form their own teams to compete for team awards, and HomeBank Texas has extended an invitation for participants to join the bank’s own group, nicknamed “The Loan Rangers.”

Registration and Details

Registration is open now at raceroster.com, where participants can select their event and enter promo code HBTX for a discount courtesy of HomeBank Texas. Race organizers note that participants who register after September 1, 2026 may not be guaranteed a t shirt or medal, so early sign up is encouraged.

Packet pick up will be available in advance and on race morning at the gazebo inside Bruce Central Park, with additional details to be released by organizers as the event approaches. A large, free parking lot will be available for participants, though organizers caution that nearby streets close once the lot fills, so an early arrival is recommended.

Out of town visitors can find discounted lodging at the Best Western Executive Inn, located across the highway from the park. Reduced Some Run rates are available by calling 972-287-9100 and requesting the Some Run rate.

A Cause Close to Home

Ataxia Telangiectasia remains a little known but devastating diagnosis for the families it affects. The A T Children’s Project has used community events like the Some Run to fund research toward treatments and, ultimately, a cure, while also raising public awareness of the disease. Attendees are invited to visit the event’s Faces of A T display to meet some of the children the race supports.

With cash prizes, team competitions, age group awards, and a course built for every fitness level, organizers say the sixth annual Some Run is shaping up to be its biggest yet. More information and registration details are available at raceroster.com or through the event’s official Facebook page.
