What’s Closed Locally for Labor Day

Date:

Residents planning errands, banking or government business over the long weekend should expect a number of closures across Seagoville, Crandall, Combine and the surrounding area on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7.

City facilities, county offices, post offices and several local banks are among the locations confirmed to be closed for the federal holiday. Some retailers and in-store businesses, however, are expected to remain open.

Here is what local residents need to know before heading out Monday.

Seagoville City Facilities Closed

The City of Seagoville has officially announced that City Hall, the public library and senior center will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day.

That includes:

  • Seagoville City Hall
  • Seagoville Public Library
  • Seagoville Senior Center

Residents needing routine city services should plan to handle their business before the holiday or wait until city offices reopen.

Police, fire and other emergency services are not affected by the administrative closure.

The Seagoville Public Library is actually beginning its holiday break earlier. The library is closed Friday, Sept. 4 through Monday, Sept. 7, giving the facility a four-day Labor Day weekend.

Dallas County Offices Closed

Residents on the Dallas County side of Seagoville and Combine should also be aware that Dallas County government offices will be closed Monday.

Dallas County has officially listed Sept. 7 as a county holiday.

The closure generally affects routine county operations such as administrative offices, the County Clerk, tax-related offices and other non-emergency departments.

Online county services may remain available even though public counters and offices are closed.

Kaufman County Offices Closed

For residents in Crandall and the Kaufman County portion of Combine, Kaufman County offices will also be closed Monday.

The county’s official 2026 holiday schedule lists Labor Day as a county holiday.

That includes regular operations at offices associated with the Kaufman County Justice Center and other non-emergency county departments.

The Kaufman Central Appraisal District has separately confirmed that its office will also be closed Sept. 7.

Emergency law-enforcement and public-safety operations continue regardless of the holiday.

Crandall City Hall Status

The City of Crandall presents an unusual situation this year.

Crandall’s official 2025 calendar specifically listed “Labor Day — Offices Closed,” but the city’s current 2026 calendar does not contain a corresponding Labor Day office-closure announcement.

In fact, the city calendar currently lists a Crandall City Council meeting for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7.

Because the city has not published a 2026 Labor Day closure notice on its online calendar, Shop in Seagoville is not listing Crandall City Hall as a confirmed closure.

Residents who need to conduct business with the city Monday should verify availability before making a trip.

Combine City Hall

Shop in Seagoville also could not locate a current official online announcement confirming the Labor Day operating status of Combine City Hall.

Because no verified Sept. 7 closure notice could be located, it is not being listed as a confirmed closure.

Crandall-Combine Library

The Crandall-Combine public library serving Crandall and Combine is governed in partnership with Crandall ISD and the communities it serves.

The library’s current published schedule shows regular Monday hours, but its publicly available September calendar does not currently contain a specific Sept. 7 Labor Day closure notice.

Because a specific 2026 closure announcement could not be independently verified online, residents planning a Monday visit should verify the library’s holiday schedule before traveling.

Post Offices Closed

There is no uncertainty about the post office.

The U.S. Postal Service has announced that all Post Office locations will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day.

That includes local post offices serving:

  • Seagoville
  • Crandall
  • Combine and surrounding communities

There will be no regular mail delivery or retail counter service Monday.

Normal mail delivery and Post Office retail operations are scheduled to resume Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Some online USPS services will remain available.

HomeBank Texas Closed

HomeBank Texas in Seagoville has specifically announced that it will be closed Monday for Labor Day.

The locally headquartered bank operates its Seagoville office at 601 N. Highway 175.

Its 24-hour ATM will remain available even though the banking office is closed.

American National Bank of Texas

American National Bank of Texas recognizes Sept. 7 on its official bank-holiday schedule.

That affects the bank’s local banking centers in both:

  • Seagoville — 201 N. Highway 175
  • Crandall — 1023 W. U.S. Highway 175

Customers should plan to use ATMs, online banking or mobile banking for routine transactions during the holiday.

What About Woodforest Inside Walmart?

The Woodforest National Bank inside the Seagoville Walmart should not be grouped with banks that are automatically closed Monday.

Woodforest operates many of its Walmart-based branches on special reduced hours during Labor Day, rather than closing for the entire day.

Woodforest has announced adjusted Labor Day hours at its branches, although Shop in Seagoville was unable to locate a Woodforest page specifically posting the Sept. 7 holiday hours for the Seagoville Walmart branch.

Residents should therefore check the Seagoville Woodforest branch’s Monday hours before visiting rather than assuming it is closed.

The branch is located inside Walmart at 220 N. Highway 175.

Walmart and Walgreens Expected Open

Labor Day is very different for retailers.

The Seagoville Walmart Supercenter is not currently listed as closed for Labor Day, and major Walmart stores traditionally operate on the holiday.

Likewise, the Walgreens in Seagoville is currently listed as operating regular store hours on Labor Day.

Individual departments — particularly pharmacies, vision centers, banks or other services operating inside a larger store — can maintain different holiday schedules.

State Offices Also Closed

Labor Day is also an official State of Texas agency holiday.

State offices scheduled around the state’s official holiday calendar will be closed Monday, and the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles lists Sept. 7 as an office closure.

Residents who need state-government services should expect normal operations to resume Tuesday.

Check Before Making a Special Trip

The safest rule this Labor Day is simple: government offices, traditional bank branches and Post Offices are largely closed, while restaurants, grocery stores, convenience stores and major retailers are much more likely to remain open.

Some locations may operate abbreviated holiday schedules.

Shop in Seagoville will update this list if additional local businesses or government agencies publish confirmed Labor Day closures or special hours before Monday.
