A 22-year-old man was arrested after an alleged hit-and-run escalated into a high-speed pursuit and a six-hour standoff inside a Seagoville residence.
According to Fox 4, Seagoville police responded at approximately 6 p.m. July 28 to a reported hit-and-run in the 200 block of Hall Road. The caller reported that a black Dodge Charger struck a vehicle before leaving the scene and stopping at a nearby gas station.
Officers attempted to speak with the Charger’s driver, identified as Quinton Patterson, but he allegedly drove away and entered U.S. Highway 175.
The Charger reached speeds of up to 116 mph in a 70-mph zone while weaving through traffic. Patterson allegedly struck additional vehicles during the pursuit before leaving the highway.
The pursuit continued into the 500 block of Jean Street, where Patterson reportedly abandoned the Charger and entered a residence. The people inside the home fled after he entered.
Although Patterson did not live at the residence, the occupants indicated that he had previously visited the home.
Officers established a perimeter around the property as the Southwest Regional SWAT Team joined the operation. The standoff continued for approximately six hours before officers entered the residence and located Patterson hiding inside a box in a bedroom closet.
A firearm equipped with a 30-round magazine was discovered inside the Dodge Charger.
Patterson was taken into custody and faces charges that include evading arrest, unlawful carrying of a weapon and criminal trespass. Additional charges may also be connected to the pursuit and collisions.
He also had three active warrants from Mesquite involving motor-vehicle violations at the time of his arrest.
