2026 Local Church Tour: The Rock Church

Local Church Tour • Part 5 of a Series

On Highway 175 in Seagoville, The Rock Church has spent more than four decades building a family of faith, with ministries that reach children, youth, men, women, the incarcerated, and neighbors facing hunger and homelessness.

Our Local Church Tour series continues in Seagoville, where a congregation known simply as The Rock Church has gathered beneath a landmark cross along Highway 175 since the mid 1980s. What began as a small group meeting in a Seagoville community center in 1981 has grown into a full church home with Sunday and Wednesday worship, a lineup of ministries for every age, and an active outreach into the surrounding community.

According to the church, its founding members set out in 1981 with a vision of building a permanent home nearby. Leaders identified a piece of land spanning 6 acres that they hoped to purchase, but the landowner initially refused to sell. Members and ministers gathered for prayer, and within two weeks the landowner had a change of heart. The church bought the property, and by 1986 the current building on Highway 175 was complete. Today, roughly 45 years after those first meetings and 40 years in its current home, the congregation still gathers under the same cross.

Though its web address reads rockchurchdallas.com, longtime neighbors know the congregation simply as The Rock Church, right here in Seagoville.

What To Expect

Sunday mornings at The Rock Church open with a prayer gathering at 9 a.m., followed by Sunday school for children, men, and women at 9:30 a.m. The main worship service begins at 10:30 a.m., with Children’s Church running at the same time so the youngest members have a service built for them. The congregation gathers again midweek, with a prayer time on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and a full Wednesday evening service at 7:30 p.m. that includes separate programming for children, youth, and adults.

Who They Are

The Rock Church describes itself as a community built on faith, prayer, worship, and service, welcoming anyone, however imperfect, who has felt the pull of Christ’s love. Weekly services are recorded and posted online so members who miss a Sunday can still catch the message, and childcare is offered during Sunday school, both Sunday services, and the Wednesday evening gathering.
