The Founding 12: Inside Shop in Seagoville’s New Plan to Turn Advertising Into Customers

Local Business • Shop in Seagoville

A capped membership program is being rebuilt around a simple question every business owner actually asks: will this put money in my register?

Twelve businesses. Twelve months. Twelve signature campaigns built to bring paying customers through the door. That is the new pitch behind the Shop in Seagoville Founders Club, a membership program capped at a dozen local partners and priced at $500 annually or two payments of $300.

“We don’t just advertise local businesses. We help create customers.”

The Flagship Idea: A Monthly Mystery Dinner

The concept meant to introduce everything else is a restaurant promotion called the Monthly Mystery Dinner, designed to fill a normally slow Monday or Tuesday night. A restaurant sets a $25 meal price for a themed evening. Shop in Seagoville builds the promotion, sells the entertainment ticket separately and drives the traffic.

A single successful night produces a case study a business owner can actually picture: tickets sold, dinner sales generated, first time customers walking in the door. That case study, more than any brochure, is expected to be what closes the remaining membership slots.

Twelve Slots, Twelve Categories

Rather than recruit twelve generic advertisers, the plan is to fill twelve category exclusive positions, one per industry. Once a category is claimed, a competing business cannot buy into the same founding position.

Every Founder Gets a Month

With twelve members and twelve months, each Founding Partner is assigned a Launch Month, a stretch when Shop in Seagoville concentrates its full promotional weight on that single business: homepage placement, a feature article, Facebook promotion, a contest or event, Local Deals inclusion, and a follow up story announcing the result.

The Promotional Sequence
Homepage feature → article → Facebook promotion → contest or event → Local Deals listing → follow up story → winner announcement

Recruiting the First Twelve

The recruiting pitch does not open with membership pricing. It opens with an idea specific to that business, a promotion built around its slow night, its service menu, or its customer base.

An anchor founder, likely a restaurant, is expected to be recruited first, with the Mystery Dinner built around that business as proof of concept. From there, each additional signing shrinks the number of open slots, a form of real scarcity built on actual local businesses joining rather than an artificial countdown.
