Families with students in Dallas ISD and Crandall ISD will share several major school breaks during the 2026–2027 academic year.
However, the districts have different opening dates, fall breaks, staff-development days and final days of school.
First Day of School
Dallas ISD students following the traditional calendar begin classes on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026.
Crandall ISD begins two days later on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026.
Dallas ISD operates a separate calendar for campuses participating in the Additional Days School Year program. Families should check the Dallas ISD calendar page to confirm which calendar applies to their school.
Fall Break
Dallas ISD students will be out of school Thursday, Oct. 8, and Friday, Oct. 9. Monday, Oct. 12, is also a student holiday while employees participate in professional development.
Crandall ISD students receive a full fall break from Monday, Oct. 12, through Friday, Oct. 16.
Crandall staff members have exchange days from Oct. 12–14, followed by staff holidays on Oct. 15–16.
Thanksgiving Break
Both districts will observe Thanksgiving break during the same week.
Students and staff in Dallas ISD and Crandall ISD will be off from Monday, Nov. 23, through Friday, Nov. 27.
Classes resume Monday, Nov. 30.
Winter Break
Dallas ISD’s winter break runs from Monday, Dec. 21, through Monday, Jan. 4. Tuesday, Jan. 5, is a professional-development day, so students return Wednesday, Jan. 6.
Crandall ISD students begin their winter break earlier. Friday, Dec. 18, is a staff learning and planning day with no classes.
Crandall students remain out through Jan. 5 and return Wednesday, Jan. 6.
Spring Break
The districts have matching spring-break schedules.
Dallas ISD and Crandall ISD students will be out from Monday, March 15, through Friday, March 19, 2027.
Both districts will also be closed on Friday, March 26, for a student and staff holiday.
Staff-Development Days
Dallas ISD’s student holidays for professional development include:
- Monday, Oct. 12
- Tuesday, Nov. 3
- Tuesday, Jan. 5
Crandall ISD’s student holidays for staff learning and planning include:
- Friday, Sept. 25
- Friday, Nov. 6
- Friday, Dec. 18
- Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 4–5
- Friday, Feb. 12
- Friday, April 23
Crandall ISD revised its calendar in March. Sept. 24, Feb. 11 and March 12, which were previously listed as student holidays, are now regular instructional days.
Graduation
Crandall High School’s graduation is scheduled for Wednesday, May 19, 2027. High school students will have an early-release schedule that day.
Dallas ISD’s academic calendar does not list individual high school graduation ceremonies. The district and campuses, including Seagoville High School, will publish separate graduation schedules closer to the end of the school year.
Final Day of School
Crandall ISD’s final student day is Thursday, May 20, 2027, with early release at all campuses.
Dallas ISD’s final day is Wednesday, May 26, 2027. All schools will dismiss early.
That means Crandall ISD students finish six days before Dallas ISD students.
