STAR Transit will recognize the passengers who rely on its public transportation services during Rider Appreciation Week, scheduled for Monday, July 27, through Saturday, August 1, 2026.
Throughout the week, riders are encouraged to board STAR Transit vehicles and watch for special surprises offered as part of the appreciation campaign. The event is intended to thank passengers for choosing public transportation and for allowing STAR Transit to assist with their everyday travel needs.
Rider Appreciation Week provides an opportunity to recognize the many reasons residents use local transit. Passengers may depend on transportation services to reach jobs, medical appointments, shopping destinations, educational programs, community services and other essential locations.
For residents who do not drive or who have limited access to a personal vehicle, dependable transportation can play an important role in maintaining independence. Transit service can also help older adults, people with disabilities, students, workers and families remain connected to the communities where they live.
STAR Transit’s weeklong celebration places the focus on those passengers and their continued participation in the transit system. Riders will not need to attend a separate event to take part. Instead, the appreciation activities will occur aboard vehicles during the regular course of the week.
The announcement encourages passengers to ride throughout the celebration period for opportunities to receive on-board surprises. Specific gifts, participating routes and distribution times were not announced, meaning riders may encounter the appreciation activities at different points during the week.
The campaign also offers residents who have not recently used public transportation a reason to learn more about the service options available in their area. Those considering a trip should review their transportation arrangements ahead of time and confirm any reservation, scheduling or eligibility requirements that may apply to the service they plan to use.
Passengers should also allow enough time for their trips, be prepared at the designated boarding location and keep any required fare or travel information readily available.
Rider Appreciation Week will begin Monday, July 27, and continue through Saturday, August 1. STAR Transit passengers are invited to ride during the week and enjoy the on-board surprises planned in recognition of the people who use the transportation service.
