The City of Crandall has launched its yearly Stockings for Seniors program, asking residents to embrace the spirit of Christmas in July by donating new, gender-neutral items to benefit local senior citizens during the upcoming holiday season.
The donation drive runs from July 7 through November 30, giving community members nearly five months to contribute everyday essentials and thoughtful gifts that can make a meaningful difference in the lives of older residents.
Suggested donation items include grippy socks, cozy blankets, activity books, toothbrushes and toothpaste, scented soaps and lotions, magnifying glasses, batteries, towels, and washcloths. Organizers stress that new, gender-neutral items are preferred to ensure every senior receives a suitable gift.
Donations can be dropped off at 116 S. Main Street in Crandall during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The program also accepts nominations for seniors who could benefit from receiving a stocking. Residents who know an older adult in the community can submit their name through the city’s website at crandalltexas.com/308/Stockings-for-Seniors.
