The Seagoville Animal Shelter has announced a weeklong free adoption event starting Monday, July 6, and running through Saturday, July 11, as the facility grapples with what it describes as critical capacity.
All dogs and cats that are already spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped are eligible for adoption at no cost during the event. The shelter is located at 500 E. Farmers Road in Seagoville, just east of Dallas off Highway 175.
Adoption hours are 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Adopters must complete an adoption form and present identification. The shelter’s announcement emphasized that pets are a lifetime commitment and should be treated as family.
The adoption fee waiver applies only to animals that have already been sterilized, vaccinated, and microchipped. The shelter notes that all available pets are listed online, but animals may be adopted quickly, and no pet is made available until a signed owner release is received or a 72-hour stray hold period has passed.
For those unable to adopt, the shelter accepts monetary donations by check or money order made payable to “Seagoville Animal Shelter” with “donation” written in the memo line.
