Every two weeks, a handful of your neighbors gather at City Hall to make decisions that shape life in Seagoville, everything from the municipal budget to local ordinances. Yet many residents couldn’t pick their own council member out of a lineup. Shop in Seagoville is here to change that with a simple guide to the six people currently leading the city.
Seagoville is governed by a Mayor and five Councilmembers, all elected at large by qualified voters citywide rather than by individual districts. The Mayor and Councilmembers serve two year staggered terms, and the city charter places no limit on how many terms a member can serve.
Under the Home Rule Charter, nearly all powers of the city are vested in the City Council, which sets policy, approves the budget, and enacts municipal ordinances. The council also appoints the City Manager, City Secretary, City Attorney, Municipal Judge, and other officials named in the charter.
The council regularly meets on the second and fourth Monday of the month or as posted. A Work Session begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Regular Session at 7:00 p.m., per Ordinance 2025 04.
How to Have Your Voice Heard
Meeting agendas and videos are posted through the city’s Public Meeting Center, giving residents a way to follow along even if they cannot attend in person. Residents with questions about an upcoming agenda item, or who want to raise a concern with the city, can reach a council member directly by email or contact Seagoville City Hall at 702 North Highway 175, open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
