Seagoville High School’s Special Education Department is asking the community for support as it works to build the Dragon Den Apartment, a simulated apartment style learning environment designed for students with special needs.
According to the school, the space is intended to help students gain the skills they need to live as independently as possible in preparation for life after high school. The apartment will include a living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, and closet or dressing area, giving students hands on practice with real world living spaces.
The school is seeking donations of gently used furniture and household items in good working condition for each area of the apartment. Organizers noted that space is limited and asked that community members do not drop off items without prior approval.
The project’s goal is to have the Dragon Den Apartment fully set up and ready for student use by the first day of the 2026 to 2027 school year.
The school is also welcoming community partners to support students through donations, career opportunities, internships, volunteering, guest speaking, and other forms of involvement. According to Seagoville High School, “Together, we build brighter futures.”
