The wait is over. The Mesquite Championship Rodeo returns to the Mesquite Rodeo Arena this Saturday, June 27, with a full night of bull riding, barrel racing, bronc riding, and family fun that has made it one of the most well known rodeo traditions in Texas.
Saturday’s event is “$1 Hotdog Night,” giving families an affordable way to enjoy a full evening of rodeo action at the arena located at 1818 Rodeo Drive in Mesquite. The promotion is part of a season long lineup that runs through the rodeo’s finals night in late August.
According to the event listing from Gomez Western Wear Arena, the night promises “an action packed night of bull riding, barrel racing, bronc riding, family fun, and unforgettable rodeo excitement.” The arena is encouraging fans to “gather your friends and family and experience the excitement of Texas’ most famous rodeo tradition.”
The Mesquite Championship Rodeo is sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, or PRCA, and features competitors from across the country chasing points and prize money in the major rough stock and timed events that define professional rodeo.
Post Rodeo Concert Featuring Clay Hollis
Once the final buzzer sounds, the night continues with a live concert from Texas country artist Clay Hollis. Hollis is a San Antonio native who has built a steady following in the Texas country scene since releasing his debut EP in 2017, with charting singles and songs co written with Nashville songwriters along the way.
Hollis is known for blending traditional honky tonk influences with modern country hooks, and he plays well over 100 shows a year across Texas and beyond. His performance is included with rodeo admission as part of the post rodeo concert series running throughout the summer schedule.

The event is open to the public, both on and off Facebook, and is being promoted by Gomez Western Wear Arena. Families heading over from Seagoville, Crandall, or Combine can expect a short drive to Mesquite, a city well known throughout North Texas for hosting this rodeo tradition each summer.
Gates open ahead of the rodeo’s start time, with the $1 hotdog promotion available throughout the night. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to find parking and seating before the action begins.
