Former Seagoville Police Building Renamed the Patrick Stallings Communications and Detention Center

The building that once housed the Seagoville Police Department now carries the name of the man who spent nearly two decades serving the city from inside its walls.

The former police facility at 600 Hwy. 175 has been officially renamed the Patrick Stallings Communications and Detention Center, honoring the late police chief and city manager who died unexpectedly on February 6, 2025, in Red Oak, Texas. He was 60 years old.

For the Seagoville community, the new name is more than a label on a building. It is a permanent marker of a career that shaped public safety and city government for the better part of two decades.

A Career Built in Seagoville

Stallings began leading the Seagoville Police Department in April 2008. During his time as chief, the department earned Recognized Status from the Texas Police Chiefs Best Practices Program, a distinction reserved for departments that meet rigorous standards in policy and operations.

In November 2015, the Seagoville City Council appointed him as the city’s new City Manager after he had already been serving in the interim role for several months. He brought more than 32 years of experience in municipal government to the position, along with degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington and Dallas Baptist University. He was also a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the Bill Blackwood Leadership Command College.

Stallings went on to serve as City Manager for nearly a decade, guiding Seagoville through years of growth until his death in early 2025. In total, his service to the city spanned approximately 17 years.

A Community Remembers

Following his death, the City of Seagoville lowered flags to half staff and shared a public statement honoring his impact. According to the City of Seagoville, his leadership, dedication, and service made a lasting impression on the community, and his legacy would continue to live on in the city he served so passionately.

Renaming the old police building in his honor ensures that legacy has a permanent home. The Patrick Stallings Communications and Detention Center now stands as a daily reminder of a public servant who spent his career protecting and guiding the city of Seagoville.

This story will be updated as more details about the dedication and any planned ceremony become available.
