With Independence Day approaching, local cities are reminding residents to celebrate safely. Both the City of Seagoville and the City of Crandall have issued guidance ahead of the holiday, and the message from both is the same: fireworks are illegal within city limits.
City of Seagoville
The City of Seagoville is reminding residents that fireworks are illegal within city limits, including neighborhoods, streets, parks, and areas near homes. According to the City, fireworks can lead to fires, injuries, and disturbances that affect residents, veterans, children, and pets throughout the community.
Seagoville officials say residents should call 911 only for true emergencies, including an active fire, a serious injury or medical emergency, a crime in progress, or an immediate danger to someone’s safety. Reporting fireworks that are not creating an immediate emergency, general noise complaints, or questions about city rules and holiday events should not go through 911.

City of Crandall
The City of Crandall has a similar policy in place. City ordinance prohibits any person from possessing, casting, throwing, or firing fireworks of any kind within city limits, a rule that also extends to the Heartland Community. The Crandall Police Department enforces a zero tolerance policy for violations.
Crandall residents are asked to call the non emergency number at 469.376.4500 to report unlawful fireworks, and to reserve 911 for true emergencies.
