The 2025-26 Seagoville Dragons boys basketball team put together a strong season built on balance, defense, timely scoring, and the ability to win close games when the pressure was highest.
Based on reported final scores, Seagoville finished 16-8 in listed completed games, including a bi-district playoff victory over W.T. White before the season ended in the area round against Red Oak. The Dragons showed they could win in different ways, from high-scoring blowouts to low-scoring defensive battles and overtime thrillers.
Seagoville opened the season on Nov. 15 with a 57-54 win over Duncanville Village Tech. The Dragons set the tone early, jumping out to a 21-8 first-quarter lead before holding off a late rally. Three days later, Seagoville fell to Mesquite Horn, 73-51, but quickly bounced back with one of its most complete early-season performances.
On Nov. 21, the Dragons rolled past Garland, 74-50. Seagoville scored 19 points in the first quarter, added 21 more in the second, and carried a 40-18 halftime lead into the break. The Dragons followed that stretch with a tough 85-59 loss to Amarillo Tascosa before responding again with a 64-46 win over Midlothian on Dec. 2.
December brought some of Seagoville’s most explosive offensive performances. On Dec. 12, the Dragons defeated Carrollton R.L. Turner, 87-51, behind a 31-point second quarter. Four days later, Seagoville delivered its highest-scoring game of the listed regular season, beating Molina 89-34. The Dragons scored at least 21 points in every quarter and controlled the game from start to finish.
The schedule tightened late in December. Seagoville dropped a close 45-43 game to Mesquite Poteet on Dec. 19, then suffered back-to-back losses on Dec. 30 against Woodrow Wilson, 69-63, and Hillcrest, 58-52. Those setbacks tested the Dragons, but January became a turning point.
Seagoville opened the new year with a 63-60 road win over Bryan Adams on Jan. 6, then followed with one of its most important close wins of the season. On Jan. 9, the Dragons edged West Mesquite, 58-57, using a strong start and enough late-game execution to hold on.
The Dragons continued building momentum with a 77-39 win over Spruce on Jan. 13. After a 76-65 loss to Woodrow Wilson on Jan. 16, Seagoville answered with a 68-62 win over North Mesquite on Jan. 20. In that game, the Dragons scored 34 points across the second and third quarters to create separation before finishing off the six-point victory.
Seagoville then defeated Samuell, 49-40, before entering one of its best stretches of the season. The Dragons beat Bryan Adams again on Jan. 30, winning 43-37, then followed with a 41-34 victory over Mesquite Poteet on Jan. 31. That win was especially meaningful after Poteet had beaten Seagoville by two points earlier in the season.
After a 65-49 loss to West Mesquite on Feb. 3, the Dragons delivered a dominant response. On Feb. 6, Seagoville overwhelmed Spruce, 85-23. The Dragons allowed only four points in the first quarter, five in the second, five in the third, and nine in the fourth while pouring in 28 points of their own in the third period.
One of the defining wins of the season came on Feb. 13 against North Mesquite. Seagoville and North Mesquite were tied after regulation, but the Dragons took control in overtime, outscoring the Stallions 8-4 to secure a 51-47 victory. That win showed Seagoville’s composure in a tight postseason-style environment.
The Dragons closed the regular-season stretch with a 70-34 win over Samuell on Feb. 17. Seagoville controlled the game defensively from the opening quarter and pulled away with a 24-point third quarter.
In the postseason, Seagoville made its biggest statement on Feb. 23 with a 67-64 bi-district victory over W.T. White. The playoff win extended the Dragons’ season and gave the program a major highlight in a year filled with competitive performances.
Seagoville’s run ended four days later in the area round with an 88-34 loss to Red Oak. While the final game did not go the Dragons’ way, the season as a whole reflected a team that consistently responded to adversity, protected close leads, and found ways to win important games.
The 2025-26 Dragons were at their best when they played fast, defended with energy, and shared the scoring load. They posted major wins over Garland, Midlothian, Carrollton R.L. Turner, Molina, Spruce, Samuell, Bryan Adams, North Mesquite, Mesquite Poteet, West Mesquite and W.T. White.
With a 16-win season and a bi-district playoff victory, Seagoville gave Dragon fans a season to remember and set a strong standard for the program moving forward.
