The 2025-26 Crandall Pirates boys basketball season was defined by big offensive nights, close-game battles, tournament tests, and a district stretch that challenged the Pirates from start to finish.
Crandall opened the season with a narrow 68-61 loss to Tyler Legacy on Nov. 14, but the Pirates quickly showed they had scoring power. On Nov. 18, Crandall delivered one of its most complete offensive performances of the season, rolling past Ferris 93-59. The Pirates jumped out with 25 first-quarter points, added 29 more in the third quarter, and finished with four strong scoring periods in the victory.
Crandall followed with one of its toughest early-season wins, edging Bishop Lynch 56-54 on Nov. 21. The Pirates built momentum behind a strong second quarter and held on late in a tight finish. That win proved Crandall could compete in close, pressure-packed games.
The Pirates then endured a tough stretch of narrow defeats. Crandall fell to Pinkston 67-64, Royse City 67-64 and later Terrell 66-65, three losses decided by a combined seven points. Even in defeat, those results showed a team capable of staying within striking distance against quality opponents.
One of Crandall’s best early highlights came on Nov. 26, when the Pirates defeated Midland Legacy 82-75. Crandall started fast with 26 points in the opening quarter and closed even stronger, scoring 26 in the fourth to secure the win. The Pirates followed with another impressive performance on Dec. 2, knocking off Rockwall 64-50 behind a dominant 27-point fourth quarter.
Tournament play brought more tests in December. Crandall dropped a close 54-52 decision in early December action, then bounced back with two strong wins on Dec. 6. The Pirates beat McKinney North 69-65 after recovering from a slow start, then defeated North Mesquite 63-53 behind a steady defensive finish. Against North Mesquite, Crandall held the Stallions to just eight fourth-quarter points to close out the victory.
The Pirates closed the calendar year with a difficult stretch that included losses to West Mesquite, Arlington Seguin and Bishop Lynch. The rematch with Bishop Lynch was especially tough, as Crandall fell 76-44 after a fast start by the Friars.
Once January arrived, Crandall found new life. The Pirates opened district play with a commanding 70-43 win over Midlothian Heritage on Jan. 6, then followed with a 69-49 road win over Kaufman on Jan. 9. Those back-to-back victories gave Crandall a strong start to the new year and showed the Pirates’ ability to respond after adversity.
The district schedule, however, brought little room for error. Crandall fell to Midlothian, Red Oak and Ennis during a difficult January stretch before answering with another win over Midlothian Heritage, 65-51, on Jan. 30. The Pirates also completed a strong season sweep of Kaufman with a 73-60 victory on Feb. 3.
Crandall closed the season on a high note Feb. 17, defeating Ennis 74-68. It was a fitting finish for a team that spent the season fighting through close games, difficult opponents and tough stretches without losing its competitive edge.
The Pirates’ season included several statement performances: 93 points against Ferris, 82 against Midland Legacy, 73 against Kaufman, 74 against Ennis and multiple wins over district opponents. While the year included its share of close losses, Crandall also proved it had the scoring ability and toughness to compete with a demanding schedule.
For the Pirates, the 2025-26 season was a test of resilience. Crandall showed flashes of explosive offense, late-game toughness and the ability to bounce back after setbacks. With key victories over Ferris, Bishop Lynch, Midland Legacy, Rockwall, McKinney North, North Mesquite, Midlothian Heritage, Kaufman and Ennis, the Pirates built a season filled with memorable moments and hard-earned wins.
