Seagoville residents will have a free and anonymous way to clear out old and unused medications this Saturday, April 25, as the Seagoville Law Enforcement Center joins thousands of sites across the country for the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Seagoville Law Enforcement Center, located at the Old Police Station, 600 N Hwy 175, Seagoville, TX 75159.
This marks the 30th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day hosted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, according to the DEA. The agency holds the event twice a year, in the spring and fall, at nearly 4,200 locations nationwide, giving families a simple way to remove expired or unwanted prescription drugs from their homes.
“Removing unused and expired medications from your home and disposing of them properly is a simple but powerful step in preventing prescription drug misuse,” said DEA Administrator Terrance Cole, according to the DEA. Cole noted the agency has hosted the initiative for 16 years.
The service is free, anonymous, and requires no questions to be answered. Residents are encouraged to bring in tablets, capsules, and patches for disposal. According to the DEA, most people who misuse prescription drugs get them from family, friends, and acquaintances rather than from illegal sources, which makes clearing out home medicine cabinets an important step in preventing misuse and accidental poisonings.
Take Back Day has grown into one of the largest drug disposal efforts in the country. Since the program began in the fall of 2010, the DEA reports it has collected more than 20 million pounds of unwanted medication nationwide, including 571,054 pounds collected during the October 2025 event alone.
For Seagoville families, Saturday’s event offers a convenient local option to safely and responsibly get rid of medications that might otherwise sit unused in a cabinet or be disposed of improperly.
