In this edition of Seagoville Flashback, we revisit a case that tested cooperation among multiple North Texas law enforcement agencies and ended with a felony suspect in custody more than fifty miles from where it began.
According to a Seagoville Police Department news release dated March 25, 2020, a Seagoville officer on routine patrol spotted a pickup truck connected to a previous incident that had already resulted in an Aggravated Assault arrest warrant. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to comply and instead accelerated onto westbound US Highway 175, prompting Seagoville officers to begin a pursuit.
The chase did not stay within Seagoville city limits for long. The release states the suspect continued into the City of Dallas, then into Richardson, with the pursuit drawing support from the Texas Department of Public Safety Aircraft Operations Division and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, along with assistance from Richardson PD once the chase reached their jurisdiction.
The pursuit ultimately ended on foot. After abandoning the vehicle, the suspect fled into a Richardson neighborhood before Dallas County Sheriff’s deputies caught up with him following a brief foot chase.
Identified in the release as
, 28, of Cedar Hill, the suspect was arrested and booked into the Dallas County Jail. He faced felony charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Evading Arrest with a Vehicle, the latter elevated due to a previous conviction.
Despite the distance covered and the number of agencies involved, the release noted no injuries to any persons and no property damage resulted from the pursuit.
