This week’s Seagoville Flashback looks back at a disturbing case from May 2017, when a young Seagoville man was found fatally injured in the Combine area under circumstances that pointed to a crime scene far from where he was discovered.
According to reporting from inForney.com, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department responded to a home in the 3000 block of Bois D Arc Road in the Combine area on the night of Thursday, May 11, 2017, after a report of an injured person.
When deputies arrived, they found 24 year old David Cox of Seagoville suffering from severe head trauma. Cox was rushed to an area hospital but later died from his injuries, according to Dallas County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Melinda Urbina, who spoke with inForney.com.
Investigators said witnesses reported seeing Cox’s body dumped from a white pickup truck. That truck was recovered a short distance from where Cox’s body was located. Deputies later determined the pickup had been stolen, and it was unoccupied when they found it.

The location where both the truck and Cox’s body were found sits in the Combine area of Dallas County, just west of the Kaufman County line and south of Seagoville.
As of this original report, no suspects had been publicly identified and the investigation remained active. This Flashback revisits the case as it was first reported in 2017.
