Crandall: US 175 Frontage Road Traffic Change Coming

Date:

Drivers along U.S. Highway 175 in Crandall should prepare for an important traffic-pattern change beginning the week of Oct. 12.

The north frontage road along U.S. 175 will become one-way westbound, according to the traffic-operations map provided for the upcoming change. That is the frontage road on the Jordan’s Truck Parts side of the highway, shown in red on the map.

The south frontage road will remain two-way between Trinity Drive and FM 148. It is shown in blue on the traffic map, with arrows indicating traffic will continue to move in both directions.

The change is consistent with the long-planned U.S. 175 frontage-road project in Crandall. TxDOT project documents describe improvements along U.S. 175 from FM 148 toward CR 4106 that include construction of a south-side frontage road and conversion of the existing north-side frontage road from two-way traffic to one-way operation.

What Drivers Need to Know

Once the new traffic pattern takes effect, motorists using the north frontage road will need to follow westbound-only traffic flow. The route continues beneath the bridge and loops back while remaining one-way, according to the provided map.

On the opposite side of U.S. 175, motorists will continue to have two-way access along the south frontage road from the Trinity Drive area toward FM 148.

That distinction will be especially important for drivers who regularly use the frontage roads to reach businesses, neighborhoods, churches, schools, and other destinations along the U.S. 175 corridor.

Watch for New TxDOT Signs

Drivers should begin watching for new TxDOT signage as the transition approaches.

Anyone accustomed to entering the north frontage road from either direction should pay particular attention once the new signs are installed. A route that has historically allowed two-way travel will no longer operate that way after the conversion.

Motorists should follow posted signs, directional arrows, and any temporary traffic-control devices in place during the transition.

Part of Larger US 175 Improvements

The frontage-road changes are part of a broader transportation project along U.S. 175 in Crandall. Regional transportation documents identify the project as involving new frontage-road construction, ramp modifications, and conversion of an existing two-way frontage road to one-way operation.

The change will alter a familiar driving pattern for local residents, so motorists may want to study the traffic map before the week of Oct. 12 — especially those who regularly travel between Trinity Drive, FM 148, and businesses along the frontage roads.

For now, the key points are simple: north frontage road traffic will move westbound only, while the south frontage road remains open to traffic in both directions.
