Seagoville golfer Kelli Kifer won consecutive individual state championships, including one by 11 strokes. Her name appears in the UIL’s Class 4A girls golf championship records for both 1986 and 1987.
The 1986 result was emphatic. The archive lists Kifer—spelled “Kellie” in that year’s results—with a total of 158. Runner-up Neisy Rodriguez of San Antonio Alamo Heights finished at 169, while Snyder’s Leslie Light was third at 171.
That 11-stroke difference also appears in the UIL’s Class 4A girls golf record book under individual margins of victory. It was a substantial cushion over the nearest challenger at a state championship.
Kifer returned to the top of the results in 1987 with a total of 142. Barbie Blackwell of Conroe Oak Ridge finished second at 147, and Light took third at 154. The repeat title came by five strokes.
A contemporary Boerne newspaper report identified Kifer as the tournament winner and said she would join Texas A&M the following year.
The individual and team trophies went to different schools. Snyder won the 1986 team championship, and Andrews won in 1987, while the individual champion came from Seagoville both times.
The record gives the Dragons a championship story measured in strokes rather than touchdowns or baskets: consecutive state titles, two different winning totals, and a double-digit victory margin in the first championship.
