Seagoville Animal Shelter Offers $25 Halloween Adoptions

Date:

SEAGOVILLE — The Seagoville Animal Shelter is asking residents to give a homeless pet a permanent home through its “Pick Your Boo” adoption promotion, beginning Monday, Oct. 19.

The shelter’s announcement advertises a $25 adoption fee that includes spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Prospective adopters must complete an adoption form and provide identification.

The Halloween-themed campaign carries an urgent appeal for people considering adding a pet to their household: “We NEED adoptions, they NEED HOMES!”

In the announcement accompanying the second of three videos, the shelter highlighted animals in its intake room and said those featured were expected to remain available when adoption hours begin Monday.

Residents interested in a particular animal should check directly with shelter staff because availability can change.

The announcement lists adoption hours as noon to 5 p.m. weekdays and noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays. It does not specify an ending date for the discounted fee.

Residents should also confirm directions before visiting. Although the promotion lists West Farmers Road, the city’s official Animal Services directory identifies the shelter’s address as 500 E. Farmers Road.

The department’s general operating hours are listed separately from the adoption hours advertised in the promotion.

People can browse adoptable animals through the city’s online adoption page, which links to pet listings and photographs. However, the city cautions that an animal shown online may already have been adopted or reclaimed.

Its published policy states that animals are not offered for adoption until the owner provides signed approval or 72 hours have passed.

While the reduced fee can help with the initial expense of bringing home a pet, the shelter’s announcement emphasizes that adoption is a lifetime commitment to love and care.

Families considering adoption should think beyond the Halloween promotion to the animal’s everyday needs, including food, exercise, veterinary care and a suitable home.

Asking staff about an individual pet’s temperament and known needs can help prospective adopters make a thoughtful decision.
