SEAGOVILLE — A two-day rummage sale will highlight a shortened but active week at the Seagoville Senior Center, Oct. 13-16, with proceeds from donated merchandise helping support activities for local seniors.
Activities resume Tuesday, leading into the center’s semi-annual rummage sale Thursday and Friday.
Lunch Schedule: Oct. 12-15
Monday, Oct. 12: No meal service. The Senior Center is closed for Columbus Day.
Tuesday, Oct. 13: Cajun chicken with whole-kernel corn, broccoli and carrots, Texas bread, a fresh orange, and milk.
Wednesday, Oct. 14: Swiss steak with whipped potatoes, Italian green beans, a dinner roll, frosted birthday cake, vanilla ice cream, and milk.
Thursday, Oct. 15: The regular menu is replaced by the rummage-sale schedule. Seniors wanting a sandwich box should notify Kim by Oct. 13.
The center’s regular lunch program normally begins at 11 a.m. and is available to participants age 60 and older with an application on file.
Staff can help new participants with registration, and a $1 contribution per meal is requested.
Two-Day Rummage Sale Begins Thursday
The semi-annual Seagoville Senior Center Rummage Sale will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16.
The sale is open to shoppers looking for secondhand merchandise while supporting the Senior Center.
According to the center’s announcement, donated items sold during the event help fund activities, crafts, entertainment, and travel for Senior Center participants.
The center is also accepting donations of items in good condition before the sale. The advertised donation hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. during the donation period before Oct. 14.
The rummage sale is one way the center supplements its programming beyond its regular publicly supported senior services.
Wednesday Brings Birthday Breakfast
Wednesday, Oct. 14, also falls on the second Wednesday of the month, when the Senior Center’s regular schedule calls for its Birthday Breakfast at 9 a.m.
The morning event will be followed by lunch at 11 a.m., with Swiss steak and birthday cake on the menu.
Wednesday’s regular dominoes and “42” session is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m.
Karaoke Continues Around The Sale
Karaoke remains on the Tuesday and Thursday schedule from 1 to 3 p.m.
That creates a particularly active Thursday at the Senior Center as the rummage sale runs throughout the day and the center’s regular afternoon karaoke program continues.
The Senior Center is located at 304 E. Farmers Road in Seagoville. Residents seeking information about the rummage sale, sandwich boxes, meal applications, or other activities can call 972-287-4113.
