Dragons Seek Rebound; Pirates Resume District Push

Date:

The Seagoville Dragons look to rebound from a narrow district defeat this week, while the Crandall Pirates return from their bye with consecutive victories and an unbeaten district record.

Seagoville fell 16–14 to Dallas Samuell on Oct. 2, dropping to 3–3 overall and 2–2 in district play. Crandall enters the week 2–3 overall and 2–0 in district, having outscored its last two opponents by a combined 116–6.

Both teams face important home games. Seagoville hosts South Oak Cliff on Thursday, Oct. 8, and Crandall welcomes North Mesquite on Friday, Oct. 9.

Dragons look to recover after close loss

Seagoville’s two-point loss to Samuell ended a two-game winning streak that included a 56–0 victory over Adamson and a 48–7 win against Jefferson.

The Dragons scored 104 points across those victories before being held to 14 against Samuell. The defeat was Seagoville’s closest game of the season and left the Dragons at .500 in district competition.

South Oak Cliff arrives following a 68–0 victory over Molina, presenting an immediate challenge for a Seagoville team trying to regain momentum.

The Dragons’ reported offensive statistics show several players capable of contributing through the air and on the ground. The available statistical tables do not identify how many games are included, so the figures represent posted totals rather than independently confirmed totals through the Samuell game.

Williams, Smith and Roberts lead Seagoville

Kollin Williams stands out as a contributor in both phases of Seagoville’s offense. The posted statistics credit him with 495 passing yards, eight touchdown passes and no interceptions, completing 27 of 48 attempts.

Williams also has 402 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 39 carries, averaging 10.31 yards per attempt. His listed passing and rushing production totals 897 yards.

Devonte Smith leads the Dragons’ posted rushing table with 440 yards on 48 carries, an average of 9.17 yards per attempt, and five rushing touchdowns. Smith also has two receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown.

Rickey Wilkins Jr. adds another productive rushing option, with 224 yards and four touchdowns on 20 carries. His listed average of 11.20 yards per carry is the highest among Seagoville’s three leading rushers.

Together, Smith, Williams and Wilkins account for 1,066 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns in the available statistics.

In the receiving game, James Roberts leads the posted totals with 14 catches for 249 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 17.79 yards per reception.

Elijah Wade follows with four catches for 77 yards and a touchdown. Rayshaan Uribe has made the most of limited receptions, recording two catches for 72 yards and two touchdowns.

Those figures show Seagoville has received offensive contributions from multiple players. Against South Oak Cliff, the Dragons will try to translate that production into a rebound victory.

Pirates return with a productive ground game

Crandall’s district opening has changed the direction of its season after three consecutive non-district losses.

The Pirates beat Sunset 50–0 on Sept. 17, then defeated Bryan Adams 66–6 on Sept. 25 before their scheduled bye. Those victories produced an average of 58 points scored and three allowed per game.

Now Crandall faces a North Mesquite team that also enters 2–0 in district, with a 3–2 overall record. Friday’s winner will remain unbeaten in district competition.

The Pirates’ posted individual statistics highlight Darrik Ward as their leading rusher. Ward has 524 yards and 10 touchdowns on 80 carries, averaging 6.55 yards per attempt.

Ward’s 10 rushing touchdowns lead the available Crandall table. He also has five receptions for 18 yards.

Christian Ingram provides another productive option, with 217 rushing yards on 26 carries, an average of 8.35 yards per attempt. Austin Gutierrez has added 108 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.

The scoring contributions extend beyond those three. Sir Dadrian Hardy is credited with 81 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Brayden Irlanda has 55 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

As with Seagoville, the supplied Crandall tables do not specify the number of games represented.

Jordan leads Crandall’s receiving totals

Hezekiah Jordan leads the Pirates’ posted receiving statistics with 23 catches for 265 yards and two touchdowns. His reception total is the highest shown for either team in the supplied tables.

Jeremiah Douglas follows with 10 receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown, averaging 13.80 yards per catch.

Jamari West and Davyn Davis each have 38 receiving yards. West has five catches and a touchdown, while Davis has three receptions.

In the passing table, Carlton Lewis leads Crandall with 479 yards, completing 53 of 77 attempts with three touchdowns and four interceptions. That completion rate is approximately 68.8%.

Irlanda has completed four of eight passes for 71 yards and a touchdown, while Isaac Briones is listed at 2-for-2 for 11 yards.

Ward’s rushing production and Jordan’s receiving totals give the Pirates established contributors as they prepare for another unbeaten district opponent.

October schedule takes shape
