Golfers and local businesses have until Friday, Oct. 2, to get involved in one of Seagoville’s longest-running community fundraisers.
The 34th Annual Joe Fanning Memorial Golf Classic is set for Friday, Oct. 16, at Kings Creek Country Club in Kemp, bringing together golfers, businesses, and community supporters for a tournament benefiting the Joe Fanning Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Rather than simply being a day on the golf course, the annual event has developed into a community tradition connecting friendly competition with support for local scholarships.
This year’s tournament is being sponsored by the Seagoville Sunset Lions Club and Seagoville Chamber of Commerce.
Friday Deadline for Teams and Sponsors
The immediate date for prospective participants to remember is Friday, Oct. 2, the requested deadline for team registrations and sponsorship commitments.
Individual entry is $125 per golfer, with competition conducted as a four-person scramble. Player check-in begins at 7 a.m., followed by an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Oct. 16.
Entry includes lunch and a player gift bag.
For golfers who enjoy a little extra competition during a charity tournament, organizers have built several prize opportunities into the day. Cash team awards are planned along with two closest-to-the-pin prizes and two longest-drive prizes.
Golfers age 70 and older will play from the red tees.
A Silverado Waiting at No. 8
One hole could produce considerably more than bragging rights.
Tournament organizers are advertising a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 as the hole-in-one prize on Hole No. 8.
Teams can also purchase a $100 team boost package that includes a team buy-a-drive, eight team mulligans, four team 50/50 opportunities, and 24 team raffle tickets.
The added contests give the tournament a different feel from a routine round of golf while also creating additional fundraising opportunities during the event.
Businesses Can Join the Tournament
The Golf Classic also gives area businesses and organizations several ways to participate without simply entering four golfers.
The Grand Marshall Sponsor, priced at $1,500, includes a four-player team along with multiple signs, flags, and a banner.
A Platinum Lunch Sponsorship is $1,000 and includes a four-player team and event signage. The Gold Sponsor level is $650 and also includes a four-player team along with one sign.
Businesses can also select a $500 Golf Cart Sponsorship, which places the sponsor’s logo on player golf carts.
The Silver Sponsor level is $300 and includes two signs associated with the putting green and a tournament hole, while the Bronze Sponsor level is $200 and includes one hole-sponsor sign.
Those sponsorship commitments are also requested by Friday.
More Than a Golf Tournament
The tournament carries the name of Joe Fanning and supports the Joe Fanning Memorial Scholarship Fund, giving the annual event a purpose that extends beyond the final scorecard.
Residents who do not play golf can also support the scholarship fund directly.
The Seagoville Sunset Lions Club has a longstanding role in community service, including support for scholarship and charitable programs, and is again working with the Seagoville Chamber of Commerce for this year’s event.
Now in its 34th year, the tournament has become part of that local tradition.
Tournament Moves to Kings Creek
The Oct. 16 tournament will be played at Kings Creek Country Club, 6025 Club Drive in Kemp.
Kings Creek operates an 18-hole golf course near Cedar Creek Lake, along with a driving range and clubhouse facilities.
Participants should also prepare for the tournament’s dress requirements. Organizers state that collared shirts are required and jeans are not permitted.
One clarification is important for golfers using GPS or mapping services: tournament materials previously listed the street number as 6502 Club Drive, but Kings Creek Country Club’s current official address is 6025 Club Drive, Kemp, TX 75143.
