Teen Night, chess, Story Time, and Homeschool Hangout give Seagoville families four scheduled programs, while Crandall-Combine enters a quieter week after its September Story Time series.
Families looking for free weekday activities have several choices at the Seagoville Public Library as September closes and October begins.
For the week of Sept. 28 through Oct. 4, Seagoville’s fall schedule includes programs for teenagers, chess players, preschool children, and homeschool families. The Crandall-Combine Community Library has a quieter public programming calendar this week, but regular library services remain available.

Teen Night Opens the Week
Seagoville Public Library begins the week with Teen Night on Monday, Sept. 28, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The program is designed for teenagers and gives participants a place to spend time together through activities that can include games, crafts, and art.
Teen Night follows the library’s regular second-and-fourth-Monday schedule, making Sept. 28 the final September session.
For families with older children looking for something local after school, the program provides an evening option without requiring a trip outside Seagoville.
Chess Club Meets Tuesday
The activity continues Tuesday evening when the Seagoville Chess Club meets Sept. 29 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Chess Club is recommended for ages 8 and older and welcomes different skill levels.
That makes the program useful for both experienced players searching for competition and younger or newer players who are still learning the game.
The club regularly meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.
Preschool Story Time Wednesday
The focus shifts to younger children Wednesday morning.
Story Time is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at the Seagoville Public Library.
The weekly fall program is intended for children ages 3 to 5.
Story Time gives preschool children an opportunity to become more comfortable with books, listening, and participating in a group setting. It also provides parents and caregivers with a free weekday activity specifically geared toward younger children.
Homeschool Hangout Starts October
Seagoville will move directly into October with another of its newer fall programs.
Homeschool Hangout is scheduled Thursday, Oct. 1, from 11 a.m. to noon.
The weekly program is designed for children ages 6 to 12 and gives homeschool students an opportunity to participate in activities with other children during the school day.
Homeschool Hangout began in September and has added another regular daytime option to the library calendar alongside preschool Story Time.
With Story Time serving younger children and Homeschool Hangout aimed at elementary and middle-grade ages, the library now has consecutive Wednesday and Thursday morning programs for local families.
Four Programs in Four Days
For Seagoville, the schedule creates an unusually balanced week.
Monday belongs to teenagers. Tuesday brings chess players together. Wednesday is geared toward preschoolers, and Thursday gives homeschool families their own gathering.
All four programs are held at the Seagoville Public Library, 702 N. Highway 175.
Regular library hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. The library is closed Saturday and Sunday.
Quiet Week in Crandall-Combine
The Crandall-Combine Community Library enters a quieter week after holding its second September Children’s Story Time program Sept. 22.
The library’s current online calendar does not list a special public event for Sept. 28 through Oct. 4.
That does not mean patrons have to wait for another scheduled program to visit.
Residents can continue using the library’s regular collection, catalog, computers, Wi-Fi, and other library resources during normal operating hours.
The library is located at 500 W. Lewis St. in Crandall.
During the school year, hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The library is closed Sunday.
Fall Programming Continues
September brought the return of regular school-year activities at both libraries, and Seagoville’s schedule is now settling into a predictable weekly rhythm.
That can make planning easier for families. Preschool Story Time and Homeschool Hangout provide recurring daytime activities, while Teen Night and Chess Club create evening opportunities for older children and teenagers.
Crandall-Combine’s Children’s Story Time program is also continuing through the 2026–27 school year, with additional sessions scheduled during the coming months.
For residents looking for inexpensive family activities, homework resources, books, computers, or simply somewhere quiet to read, both community libraries continue to offer options even when the special-event calendar is light.
