2026 Local Church Tour: Point View Baptist Church

Date:

Local Church Tour • Part 6 of a Series
In Combine, Texas, Point View Baptist Church has carried a congregation forward since 1898, offering worship, Bible study, and ministries for every generation along FM 3039.

Our Local Church Tour series continues in Combine, Texas, where Point View Baptist Church has gathered a congregation for more than a century along FM 3039.

What began as a small group meeting at the Pleasant Grove School House in 1898 has grown into a full church home offering Sunday worship, Wednesday Bible study, and ministries that reach every age, from the church nursery to senior adults.

The congregation organized as The Point View Baptist Church of Christ on March 20, 1898, with Brother W.S. Wilson serving as the first pastor.

The church joined the East Fork Baptist Association on July 10, 1899, and organized its Sunday School on March 12, 1904.

For fifteen years the congregation met at the school house, in tents, and under brush arbors until the first church building was dedicated on May 6, 1917.

By 1949, the original building needed extensive repair and was replaced, and in 1954 the church added an educational building with nine classrooms and a baptistry.

On August 24, 1968, fire destroyed the main church building, though crews from Seagoville, Crandall, and the Federal Correctional Institution responded to help.

The congregation broke ground on a new sanctuary that November and held dedication services on October 19, 1969.

Growth continued in the decades since, with the Kara Simons Memorial Building dedicated in 1993 and a youth education building added in 1996.

“To be a church that lives by faith in the Lord, is known by the love we have for one another, and is a voice of the hope that only Jesus can give in the world.” The Mission, as stated on pointviewbaptist.org

Who They Are

Point View Baptist Church describes itself as a place where people can meet Jesus, engage in life giving community, and find a welcome regardless of where they are on their journey of faith.

The church’s stated vision is to evangelize and proclaim the message of the gospel to those who have not yet encountered the transformative love of God, with the hope of leading them to a restored relationship with Him.
