A congregation on North Highway 175 marks 72 years in Seagoville with bilingual worship, a full slate of family ministries, and a home that now spans 50,000 square feet.
Our Local Church Tour series continues on North Highway 175, where Victory Baptist Church has spent more than seven decades helping Seagoville families grow in faith. What began in 1954 as a small group meeting in a pastor’s living room has grown into a congregation with its own 50,000 square foot home, bilingual worship services, and a full slate of ministries for every age.
Victory Baptist traces its roots to January 1, 1954, when Odie and Merlene Grammer moved to Seagoville with a mission to start an independent, fundamental Baptist church. Their search led them to a small group of families willing to join the effort, and that group first met in the Grammer home on April 25, 1954, with eleven people in attendance and a first offering of 33 dollars and 90 cents. Just over a month later, on May 30, 1954, Victory Baptist Church of Seagoville was officially established with 28 charter members, and Bro. Grammer was called as its first pastor. The congregation moved into its current 50,000 square foot facility in the heart of Seagoville in 2014, where weekly worship continues today.
