Seagoville High School has produced its share of standout athletes, respected coaches and community fixtures over the decades. Yet when it comes to the Dallas ISD Athletic Hall of Fame, the Dragons have only one name in the record book. That is about to change, at least in the nomination pool, and Shop in Seagoville wants your help deciding who deserves to join him.
One Name, One Legacy
Since the Dallas ISD Athletic Hall of Fame was founded in 2017, only one Seagoville High School product has been inducted: NBA veteran LaMarcus Aldridge. He starred for the Dragons basketball team, earned Class 4A Boys Basketball Player of the Year honors as a senior in 2004, signed with the University of Texas and went on to a fifteen year NBA career as a seven time All Star.
Aldridge was inducted as part of the 2021 Hall of Fame class alongside future NBA Hall of Famer Chris Bosh and eight other honorees. According to the district’s official all time inductee list, Aldridge remains the only individual with Seagoville ties in the Hall.
That leaves a gap. Seagoville has coached championship level teams, produced multi sport standouts and had voices call Dragons football on Friday nights for generations. None of them have been formally recognized by the district. Shop in Seagoville believes that should change, and nominations for the next class are open right now.
What the Hall of Fame Recognizes
According to Dallas ISD, the Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes and honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the district’s storied high school athletic programs, with nominees considered in one of three categories: Past Dallas ISD Student Athlete, Former Dallas ISD Coach, or Contributor. The district explains that honorees may include former student athletes, coaches, administrators, contest officials, media personnel, sports medicine personnel, athletic trainers, or distinguished volunteers, and that nominees may be active or retired from their field.
Every nominee must clear a high bar. Per Dallas ISD, honorees must exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct and moral character, and applicants with felony convictions are not eligible for consideration.

Shop in Seagoville has assembled an initial list of former Seagoville athletes, coaches and a broadcaster whose names have long circulated in local sports conversation as worthy of district wide recognition. This list is a starting point, not a final ballot, and write in candidates are welcome and encouraged.

If you have documentation, statistics, championship results, media coverage or other records that support the candidacy of anyone on this list, or someone not on it, Shop in Seagoville wants to hear from you. Verified accomplishments carry real weight with the selection committee, and unsupported claims will not move a nomination forward.
How the Process Works
Dallas ISD is currently accepting nominations, and mailed nominations must be postmarked no later than Wednesday, September 30, 2026, addressed to the Dallas ISD Athletics Department at 9400 North Central Expressway, Suite 608, Dallas, Texas 75231. Electronic nominations sent to athletichalloffame@dallasisd.org must be received by five p.m. on that same date. Nominees who are not selected remain in the pool for future consideration by the Hall of Fame selection committee, so a nomination made this year is never wasted effort.
