North Texas families can receive free school supplies, health services and family entertainment during the Healthy Start to School Bash hosted by Prism Health North Texas.
The free community event is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Prism Health North Texas Oak Cliff Health Center, 219 Sunset Ave., Suite 116-A, in Dallas.
Organizers designed the event as a one-stop destination where parents can complete several important back-to-school preparations while children enjoy games and entertainment.
Each child attending will be eligible to receive a complimentary backpack filled with school supplies while supplies last. Admission also includes access to the event’s family-friendly activity stations.
Entertainment will include bounce houses, face painting, games, music, giveaways and activities for children and adults.
Free Health and Grooming Services
Families will also have access to services intended to help students begin the 2026-27 school year healthy and prepared.
Services are expected to include free school and sports physicals, dental screenings and haircuts. Families will also be able to receive assistance scheduling vaccine and general primary-care appointments.
Vaccinations are not advertised as being administered during the event. The service available at the bash is assistance with scheduling vaccine appointments.
Community organizations will be present to share information, resources and additional giveaways with attending families.
The combination of medical services and school-supply assistance could be particularly helpful for households attempting to coordinate physical examinations, dental care, vaccination appointments and supply shopping before classes begin.
Advance Registration Encouraged
Admission is free and the event is open to the public. However, Prism Health North Texas is encouraging families to register before arriving.
Advance registration will help organizers estimate attendance, prepare activity stations and expedite the check-in process. It can also help families reserve a backpack, although backpacks and supplies will remain subject to availability.
Families can complete the free registration process through the official Healthy Start to School Bash registration page before traveling to the Oak Cliff Health Center.
A complimentary ticket includes one backpack per child, school supplies and entry to the family activity stations.
Prism Health North Texas provides healthcare services for patients of all ages, including pediatric and adult primary care, women’s health, behavioral health, dental care, pharmacy services and HIV prevention and treatment.
The organization accepts private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. A sliding-fee program based on household income is also available for qualifying patients without insurance.
