Crandall ISD families can obtain required school vaccinations during a walk-in clinic Tuesday, July 14, at the district’s Student Services Building.
The clinic will operate from 4 to 7 p.m. at 308 W. Trunk St. in Crandall. Appointments are not required, and children will be served on a first-come, first-served basis.
The clinic is intended to provide required vaccinations for students entering prekindergarten, kindergarten and seventh grade. Incoming seventh graders who have not already received the required Tdap and meningococcal vaccines must receive them before the school year begins.
A parent or legal guardian must accompany each child. Families are required to bring:
- A paper copy of the child’s current immunization record; electronic copies will not be accepted
- The child’s insurance card
- The parent or guardian’s driver’s license
Vaccinations will be provided at no cost for families with qualifying coverage, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, UnitedHealthcare, CHIP and Medicaid. Families must present their insurance card at the clinic.
For those paying out of pocket, the cost is $12 per vaccine, with a maximum charge of $48 per child. Payment must be made by cash or check, and bills larger than $20 will not be accepted.
Staff members and vaccine supplies will be limited, and the clinic may close before 7 p.m. if supplies are exhausted or time runs out. Organizers cannot guarantee that every arriving family will be served.
Because the clinic is designed to operate quickly, children who strongly resist receiving shots or who require specialized accommodations may not be treated at the event. Families in those circumstances are encouraged to contact their child’s pediatrician to arrange an appropriate appointment.
