2nd Annual Chillaxen Set for September 19 in Seagoville

The Christian Motorcyclists Association Fishermen Chapter #7 is bringing back its popular fall gathering for a second year, with the 2nd Annual Chillaxen set to take over a Seagoville address on West Adkins Street next month.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at 202 W. Adkins St. in Seagoville. It is being organized by Mike and Connie Thomasson along with Fishermen Chapter #7, and it is open to the public, whether attendees follow the event on Facebook or not.

Chili and Axes, Side by Side

As the name suggests, Chillaxen combines two unrelated but crowd pleasing competitions under one roof. Guests can enter their best homemade chili recipe in the chili contest, or step up to the axe throwing lanes to test their aim for prizes. According to event organizers, the chili contest asks entrants to bring enough chili for both judges and guests to sample, while the axe throwing contest gives competitors two practice throws followed by four scoring throws, with no limit on how many times someone can enter to try to improve their score.

Those who would rather skip the competitions altogether are still encouraged to come out. Organizers describe the event as a chance to simply eat chili, hang out, and enjoy live music in a relaxed, family friendly setting.

Live Music and Bike Detailing

Live music will be provided by Sons of Thunder throughout the event. Chillaxen is also open to both cars and motorcycles, and attendees who ride in can get their bike detailed on site by Taz, of Taz’s Detail, while they enjoy the rest of the day’s activities.

A silent auction featuring a variety of items will also be part of the afternoon, giving guests another way to support the cause while taking home something new.

Admission and Entry Fees

General admission to Chillaxen is free, with donations accepted at the door. That admission covers access to the chili tasting and other food available on site. For those who want to compete, chili contest entry costs $10 per entrant, and axe throwing contest entry costs $5. Organizers note there is plenty of parking on site for both motorcycles and cars.

Supporting CMA Run for the Son

All proceeds from the 2nd Annual Chillaxen will benefit CMA Run for the Son. Those interested in learning more about that cause can visit cmausa.org/Donate and select the Run for the Son option.
