The 2025-26 Seagoville Lady Dragons girls basketball team put together one of the strongest seasons on the local hardwood, using defense, depth, and late-season momentum to build a 20-win campaign and secure a bi-district playoff victory.
Based on reported final scores, Seagoville finished 20-8 in listed completed games, including a playoff win over W.T. White before the season ended in the area round against Lake Belton. The Lady Dragons showed the ability to win in multiple ways, from defensive battles to fast-paced scoring performances, while developing into one of the tougher teams on the schedule by the second half of the season.
Seagoville opened the year on Nov. 8 with a difficult 67-21 loss to Longview, but the Lady Dragons responded quickly. On Nov. 14, they defeated Wilmer-Hutchins 48-34, then followed the next day with a dominant 52-27 win over Denton. Against Denton, Seagoville set the tone early, jumping out to a 17-3 lead in the first quarter and carrying a 32-8 advantage into halftime.
The Lady Dragons dropped a close 52-49 game to Sunset later that day, then fell to Midlothian Heritage 30-20 on Nov. 18 and Plano West 47-35 on Nov. 22. Even during that early stretch, Seagoville showed flashes of the team it would become, especially defensively.
The turnaround began in late November and carried into December. Seagoville defeated Hillcrest 58-37 on Nov. 28, then opened district play with an impressive 58-40 victory over W.T. White on Dec. 9. The Lady Dragons started fast with 18 points in the first quarter and finished strong with back-to-back 16-point quarters in the second half.
Three days later, Seagoville delivered one of its best defensive performances of the season, beating North Mesquite 42-18. The Lady Dragons held North Mesquite to just two points in the first quarter and one point in the fourth. On Dec. 16, Seagoville kept the momentum going with a 62-20 win over Samuell, using a 21-point first quarter and a 17-point second quarter to take control early.
After a 71-40 loss to Mesquite Poteet on Dec. 19, the Lady Dragons closed December with a winning streak that helped define their season. On Dec. 29, Seagoville defeated Adamson 39-11 and Trinity Christian-Cedar Hill 46-13. The next day, the Lady Dragons beat Roosevelt 54-47, then closed the calendar year on Dec. 31 with a 46-43 win over Richardson Berkner. In that victory, Seagoville used a strong second quarter and held Berkner to seven points in the fourth to finish the game.
January became the Lady Dragons’ most important stretch. Seagoville opened 2026 with a 56-43 win over Bryan Adams on Jan. 6, followed by a 54-47 victory over West Mesquite on Jan. 9. On Jan. 13, the Lady Dragons overwhelmed Spruce 56-11, one of their most dominant wins of the season.
After a 40-31 loss to Woodrow Wilson on Jan. 16, Seagoville bounced back with a 42-27 road win over North Mesquite on Jan. 20. The Lady Dragons built a 28-9 halftime lead and controlled the game defensively. Two days later, Seagoville completed a season sweep of Samuell with a 51-21 victory.
The Lady Dragons dropped a 63-39 game to Mesquite Poteet on Jan. 27, but their response showed the strength of the team. Seagoville won five straight games to close the regular season, starting with a 54-33 victory over Bryan Adams on Jan. 30. The Lady Dragons then defeated West Mesquite 41-25 on Feb. 3 and Spruce 47-24 on Feb. 6.
The regular-season finale on Feb. 10 became one of the biggest wins of the year. Seagoville edged Woodrow Wilson 31-30 in a tight defensive battle. After trailing 10-7 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Dragons stayed within reach and used a 14-point third quarter to flip the game. The one-point victory gave Seagoville a strong finish heading into the playoffs.
In the postseason, the Lady Dragons delivered another clutch performance. On Feb. 17, Seagoville defeated W.T. White 46-42 in the bi-district round. The playoff win extended the season and gave the Lady Dragons a major postseason highlight after a year of steady growth.
Seagoville’s run came to an end two days later in the area round with a 71-30 loss to Lake Belton. While the final game did not go the Lady Dragons’ way, the season as a whole was a clear success.
The 2025-26 Lady Dragons were at their best when they defended with energy, created turnovers, and turned strong starts into comfortable wins. They posted season sweeps over North Mesquite, Samuell, Bryan Adams, West Mesquite and Spruce, added quality wins over Wilmer-Hutchins, Denton, Hillcrest, W.T. White, Roosevelt, Richardson Berkner and Woodrow Wilson, and finished with a playoff victory.
With 20 listed wins, a strong district run, and a bi-district championship performance, the Seagoville Lady Dragons gave their fans a season to remember and set a strong standard for the program moving forward.
