The 2025 Crandall Lady Pirates volleyball season featured a demanding schedule, several strong district victories, and a memorable comeback that highlighted the team’s toughness and competitive spirit.
Based on reported final scores, Crandall finished 5-8 in listed completed matches, with additional matches against Ursuline, Royse City, and Kaufman appearing on the schedule without final results provided. The Lady Pirates’ season included sweeps over Terrell and Ennis, a four-set win over Kaufman, and one of their best moments of the year in a five-set comeback victory over Terrell.
Crandall opened the season on Thursday, Aug. 14, with a close 2-1 loss to North Crowley. Two days later, the Lady Pirates faced Arlington Grace Prep and fell 2-0 by scores of 25-18 and 25-20.
After scheduled matchups with Ursuline and Royse City, Crandall entered district play on Sept. 9 against Red Oak. The Lady Pirates dropped the match 3-1, but showed fight after falling behind early. Red Oak won the first two sets 25-9 and 25-18 before Crandall responded with a strong 25-16 third-set victory. Red Oak closed the match in the fourth set, 25-22.
Crandall bounced back quickly on Sept. 12 with one of its cleanest performances of the season, sweeping Terrell 3-0. The Lady Pirates controlled the match from start to finish, winning 25-17, 25-18 and 25-7.
Four days later, Crandall added another district win with a 3-1 victory over Kaufman. After dropping the first set 25-21, the Lady Pirates settled in and took command. Crandall won the second set 25-22, dominated the third set 25-10, and finished the match with a 25-22 win in the fourth.
The middle of the district schedule brought tough tests against Midlothian and Midlothian Heritage. Crandall fell to Midlothian 3-0 on Sept. 19, then lost to Midlothian Heritage 3-0 on Sept. 23. The Lady Pirates pushed Heritage in the second set before falling 25-23.
Crandall returned to the win column on Sept. 30 with a 3-0 sweep of Ennis. The Lady Pirates won 25-20, battled through a tight second set for a 26-24 victory, and closed the match with a 25-16 third-set win.
On Oct. 3, Crandall faced Red Oak for the second time and fell 3-0. The Lady Pirates were more competitive in the rematch, scoring at least 19 points in all three sets before Red Oak finished the match 25-20, 25-19 and 25-21.
One of Crandall’s defining moments came on Oct. 7 against Terrell. The Lady Pirates fell behind two sets to none after Terrell won 25-14 and 25-22. Crandall then delivered a dramatic response, taking the third set 25-8 and the fourth set 25-21 to force a decisive fifth set. The Lady Pirates completed the comeback with a 15-9 win, earning a 3-2 victory and completing the season sweep of Terrell.
Crandall closed the final stretch against some of the district’s strongest competition. The Lady Pirates fell to Midlothian 3-0 on Oct. 14, then pushed Midlothian Heritage in a four-set battle on Oct. 17. Heritage won the match 3-1, but Crandall claimed the second set 26-24 and nearly extended the match further after a close 25-23 third set.
The Lady Pirates ended the listed schedule on a strong note, defeating Ennis 3-0 on Oct. 24. With that win, Crandall completed a season sweep of Ennis and gave the program a positive finish to the campaign.
While Crandall faced a challenging schedule, the Lady Pirates showed clear signs of growth throughout the season. They swept Terrell in the first meeting, rallied from two sets down to beat Terrell again in the rematch, swept Ennis twice, and earned a four-set win over Kaufman.
The 2025 season was built on resilience. Crandall’s best performances came when the Lady Pirates responded to adversity, extended rallies, and found ways to finish matches. Those moments gave the program valuable experience and a foundation to build on moving forward.
