Six years ago this month, Seagoville Police officers responded to an early morning alarm that turned into a felony arrest at a local pharmacy.
According to a City of Seagoville news release, officers were dispatched to a business alarm call in the 600 block of East Malloy Bridge Road during the early morning hours of March 16, 2020. When officers arrived, they found an adult male attempting to break through the glass of the pharmacy’s drive through window using a large rock.
The suspect was apprehended and detained at the scene. During a field interview conducted under Miranda advisement, he admitted that he had been trying to gain entry into the pharmacy specifically to obtain controlled substances, according to the release.
Hector Hernandez, 22, of Seagoville, was arrested and charged with the felony offense of Criminal Attempt Burglary of a Building Where Controlled Substances Are Present. Hernandez also faced misdemeanor charges of Possession of Marihuana under 2 ounces and Evading Arrest and or Detention, the release stated.
The news release was issued on March 24, 2020, with Captain S. Davis listed as the department contact for additional information at the time.
Looking back, this case is a reminder of the fast response Seagoville Police officers provide to local businesses, even in the overnight hours, and the consequences that can follow when someone attempts to break in to access prescription medications.
