Seagoville Elementary Seeks Uniforms, Garden Volunteers

Date:

Seagoville Elementary School is asking families and community members to help with two efforts aimed at supporting students: a collection of gently used school uniform shirts and the continued development of the campus garden.

The school recently announced that it needs uniform shirts in good condition, particularly children’s sizes 8 and larger and adult sizes Medium and Large.

Families whose children have outgrown uniform shirts or simply have shirts they no longer use are encouraged to consider donating them rather than putting them away. The clothing can help make sure other Seagoville Elementary students have appropriate school attire available when needed.

The school described the effort as another way the community can support its “Wee Dragons.”

Uniform Shirts Needed

Seagoville Elementary is specifically requesting:

  • Gently used uniform shirts in good condition
  • Children’s sizes 8 and larger
  • Adult size Medium
  • Adult size Large

Donations may be brought directly to the Seagoville Elementary front office at 304 N. Kaufman St. Parents may also send donated shirts to school with their students.

The request provides families with a simple opportunity to help other students while putting outgrown clothing to good use.

Parents should make sure donated shirts are clean and in good condition before sending them to the school.

The uniform collection comes as Seagoville Elementary continues serving a large and growing campus community. Dallas ISD enrollment data listed 692 students at Seagoville Elementary as of Oct. 2, with the campus currently serving students from early childhood through sixth grade.

School Garden Continues to Grow

The campus is also making progress on a school garden designed to become an educational and engaging space for students.

Seagoville Elementary recently thanked Mr. Pelayo for contributing his time, labor, materials, and knowledge to the garden project.

School officials also thanked families and community supporters who have donated materials and other resources to help get the project underway.

The garden is still a work in progress, but the school’s goal extends beyond simply creating an attractive area on campus. Organizers envision a space where students can learn, explore, observe nature, and experience the process of growing plants.

Hands-on garden projects can also give teachers opportunities to connect classroom lessons with experiences outside the traditional classroom setting.

For Seagoville Elementary, however, the current project remains very much a community effort.

Volunteers Still Needed

The school says additional volunteers are needed as development of the garden continues.

Future community work dates have not yet been announced. Seagoville Elementary said those dates will be released as plans are finalized and invited both school families and members of the broader Seagoville community to participate.

That means residents do not necessarily need to have a child attending the school to become involved.

The school has not announced a complete list of materials needed for the next phase, so residents interested in donating garden supplies should check with the campus before purchasing or delivering items.

The combination of the uniform drive and garden project offers two different ways for local residents to support students.

A family may have several usable uniform shirts sitting in a closet after a child has moved into a larger size. Another resident may have gardening experience, tools, materials, or simply a willingness to volunteer at an upcoming work session.

Both forms of assistance can contribute directly to the campus community.

How to Help Seagoville Elementary

Residents with qualifying uniform shirts may drop them off at the school’s front office. Parents and guardians may also send donations to campus with their children.

Those interested in helping with the garden should watch for Seagoville Elementary’s announcement of its next volunteer work dates.

Seagoville Elementary School is located at 304 N. Kaufman St. in Seagoville. The school’s main telephone number is 972-892-7900.

For a campus serving hundreds of local children, relatively small contributions from individual families can add up quickly.

Whether it is a uniform shirt that has been outgrown or a few hours spent helping build a garden, Seagoville Elementary is giving the community practical opportunities to invest directly in its students.
