The Seagoville Police Department is recruiting both new officers and experienced officers seeking to transfer to the department. The city lists its police officer position as open until filled.
A new recruit starts at an advertised annual salary of $71,594 while attending the police academy. After completing the academy, the department’s published pay scale starts at $78,232 for a police officer and reaches $96,216 at Step 8.
Those figures are base salaries. The department says eligible officers may earn up to $9,000 a year in additional incentive pay, depending on the incentives for which they qualify.
Experienced officers may be placed as high as Step 4 when hired, depending on their approved years of police service. The Step 4 base salary shown on the recruitment flyer is $85,487. That placement is an upper limit for lateral entry, not a guaranteed starting salary.
The department is also advertising city-paid medical insurance for the employee, certification pay, and a night shift differential.
Officers are provided body armor and describes the department as beard and tattoo friendly. Candidates should ask a recruiter about the conditions attached to individual benefits and incentive payments.

The new pay figures come amid the city’s review of public safety compensation. During an August council budget discussion, city officials described proposed police pay adjustments and incentive pay of up to $750 per month, equivalent to $9,000 over a full year.
