The Crandall Lady Pirates and Seagoville Lady Dragons have reached the portion of the volleyball season that will determine whether their fall continues into the UIL playoffs.
Through results reported Wednesday, Sept. 9, Crandall was 8-9 overall and 0-1 in District 15-5A. Seagoville stood at 11-11 overall and 3-1 in District 13-5A, placing the Lady Dragons inside the district’s four-team playoff field.
Neither program had published verified individual statistics for the 2026 season. That means kill, assist, dig, block, and ace totals cannot responsibly be assigned to players. However, the available results, rosters, positions, standings, and schedules still provide a detailed picture of where the two programs stand.
Crandall Tested by Difficult Schedule
Coach Courtney Posey’s Lady Pirates have played a demanding schedule containing Class 6A opponents, strong private-school programs, and multiple tournament fields.
Crandall’s eight victories include five sweeps. The Lady Pirates defeated Irving Nimitz 2-1, Mesquite Horn 2-0, Arlington Seguin 2-1, Dallas Roosevelt 3-0, Tyler Chapel Hill 2-0, Dallas Skyline 2-0, Denison 2-0, and Horn 2-1 in a second tournament meeting.
Four of the Lady Pirates’ losses were closely contested. Crandall fell 2-1 to Ovilla Christian, Lancaster, and Frisco Panther Creek before pushing Forney to five sets in a 3-2 loss.
Crandall’s other defeats came against Caddo Mills, Plano West, Coppell, Ursuline Academy, and Midlothian. Midlothian swept the Lady Pirates 3-0 on Sept. 8 in the district opener.
Crandall’s Players to Know
Crandall has a senior-heavy varsity roster with experience across the front row and back row.
Senior outside hitter Victoria Garcia is one of the primary attacking names on the roster. The middle includes two of the team’s tallest players, 6-foot senior Jasey Bearden and 5-foot-11 senior Audrey Lambert.
Senior Harlow Vasquez, a 5-foot-8 libero, anchors the group of defensive players. Seniors Maddilyn Focken and Madeline McAnally are listed as defensive specialists, while senior Isabella McAnally plays on the right side.
The junior class gives Crandall several lineup options. Barbara Roel Martinez and Amaiyah Holmes are setters. Malayah Garrett is listed at right side and outside hitter, Mallory Koller can play middle or outside hitter, and Zerri Wooten is listed at outside hitter and middle blocker.
Sophomores Miken Barnett-Womack, a setter and defensive specialist, and Ashlyn Thompson, a right-side player, are the youngest athletes on the posted varsity roster.
With setters, defenders, and attackers spread across three classes, Crandall does not have to rely entirely on its seven seniors. The Lady Pirates also have five juniors and two sophomores who can contribute during a long district schedule.
District 15-5A Starts With Eight-Team Race
District 15-5A includes Cedar Hill, Corsicana, Crandall, DeSoto, Ennis, Lancaster, Midlothian, and Midlothian Heritage.
Only one round of district matches had been reflected in the standings by Sept. 9, making the early order highly provisional.

Crandall’s 0-1 start does not create an immediate playoff emergency. Every team has 13 district matches remaining, and four of the eight programs will qualify.
The next stretch will provide a better measurement. Ennis, Midlothian Heritage, and Lancaster entered district play with winning overall records, while Midlothian already owns the head-to-head victory over Crandall.
For the Lady Pirates, earning a split or better against that group would strengthen their playoff position. Matches against fellow 0-1 teams DeSoto, Corsicana, and Midlothian Heritage also carry immediate tiebreaker value.

Seagoville Reaches 11 Wins Early
Seagoville has already moved within two victories of its entire 2025 total. The Lady Dragons finished last season 13-17 but reached 11 victories before the middle of September this year.
Coach Zavier Fields’ team opened with a five-set victory over DeSoto and went 5-1 during its first six matches. Seagoville has recorded 10 of its 11 victories without losing a set.
The Lady Dragons defeated Wilmer-Hutchins twice, South Garland twice, Thomas Jefferson twice, Ferris, Molina, South Oak Cliff, and Roosevelt by 2-0 or 3-0 scores. Their other victory was the 3-2 opener against DeSoto.
Seagoville’s 11 losses include a five-set defeat against Conrad and a 2-1 tournament loss to Mesquite. The Lady Dragons were swept in their other nine defeats.
The Lady Dragons are also 3-1 in district competition, with victories over Molina, South Oak Cliff, and Jefferson, along with a loss to Wilson.
Seagoville’s Experienced Core
Seagoville had not published a completed 2026 varsity roster by Sept. 9, so no player should be identified as a confirmed starter solely from the available databases.
The 2025 varsity roster, however, contained nine players who were class-eligible to return this fall. If they remained with the program and advanced normally, eight would now be seniors.
Those class-eligible seniors are Miley Vasquez, a defensive specialist and libero; Jelani Dominguez, a right-side and outside hitter; London Williams, a libero and defensive specialist; Jade Achieng Ngure, an outside hitter, defensive specialist, and right-side player; Tymecia Brown, a middle blocker and right-side player; Sophilyn Solis, a setter and right-side player; Za’Niyah Cole, a setter and defensive specialist; and Malay Mack, a right-side player, middle blocker, and outside hitter.
Amiyah Graham, listed as a freshman right-side player in 2025, would be a sophomore this season.
That class-eligible group covers nearly every court responsibility. Vasquez and Williams provide back-row experience; Solis and Cole give the program experienced setting candidates; Dominguez, Ngure, Brown, Mack, and Graham offer front-row options.
Because current individual statistics and a completed current roster have not been posted, none of those players can yet be ranked by 2026 production. Their returning eligibility and previously listed positions nevertheless make them the established names for families to watch as Seagoville moves deeper into district play.
Seagoville Holds Early Playoff Position
District 13-5A contains nine teams, creating a 16-match district schedule for each program.

Seagoville is tied with W.T. White for third place by district record and has already created separation from five teams below it.
That is a favorable start, but the Lady Dragons still must play Hillcrest twice, White twice, and Wilson once more. Those five matches could determine whether Seagoville finishes among the district leaders or becomes involved in a crowded race for the final playoff positions.
The Sept. 18 meeting with White is especially important because the teams entered the week with identical 3-1 district records. Seagoville then hosts unbeaten Hillcrest four days later.
The Lady Dragons control their immediate playoff outlook. Continued success against Adamson, Sunset, Molina, South Oak Cliff, and Jefferson would make it difficult for the district’s lower half to catch them. Victories against White, Hillcrest, or Wilson would strengthen Seagoville’s case for a higher playoff seed.

Two Different Playoff Races
The UIL advances the top four teams from every Class 5A district.
Seagoville has already built a 3-1 district record and occupies a playoff position. The Lady Dragons’ challenge is to protect that advantage and show they can compete with Wilson, Hillcrest, and White.
Crandall’s race has barely begun. The Lady Pirates are 0-1, but every District 15-5A team has played only one district match. With 13 league contests remaining, Crandall has ample opportunity to move into the top four.
For both programs, the next two weeks should provide a much clearer answer. Crandall will face Ennis, DeSoto, Midlothian Heritage, Cedar Hill, and Corsicana. Seagoville will meet Adamson, Sunset, White, and Hillcrest.
By the end of those stretches, both teams should know whether they are chasing a district championship, fighting for playoff positioning, or trying to close ground before October.
