Senior Citizen Report: Lunch, Dominoes and Karaoke on Tap at Seagoville Senior Center

Local residents age 60 and older looking for a place to enjoy lunch, spend time with friends or simply get out of the house have several opportunities each week at the Seagoville Senior Center.

Located at 304 E. Farmers Road, the center offers meals, recreation and social activities designed for area senior citizens. The City of Seagoville describes the center’s mission as promoting independence, preserving dignity and improving quality of life for seniors in the community.

Lunch Served Monday Through Thursday

Lunch is available Monday through Thursday beginning at 11 a.m.

For participants age 60 and older with an application on file, meals are contribution-based, with a recommended contribution of $1 per meal. Age 60 is the qualifying requirement for participation in the senior meal program.

The City of Seagoville’s meal information also lists a suggested $1 donation for qualifying participants age 60 and older.

The senior center and food program are supported, in part, by the Community Council of Greater Dallas/Dallas Area Agency on Aging, Texas Health and Human Services and the City of Seagoville.

Dominoes Every Monday and Wednesday

Lunch isn’t the only reason to visit.

Domino players have a regular afternoon gathering at the center every Monday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m.

For seniors who enjoy a friendly game, the sessions provide an easy opportunity to meet other residents, socialize and spend an afternoon at the center. Dominoes are among the regular activities listed by the City of Seagoville for senior center participants.

Karaoke Moves to Tuesdays and Thursdays

Seniors who would rather pick up a microphone can take advantage of the center’s updated karaoke schedule.

Karaoke is now held every Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m.

The afternoon sessions give participants a chance to sing their favorite songs or simply come by and enjoy the performances. Karaoke and music are also included among the activities offered through the Seagoville Senior Center.

With dominoes on Mondays and Wednesdays and karaoke on Tuesdays and Thursdays, seniors now have a scheduled afternoon activity available each weekday the center is open.

More Than Lunch

The center offers a wider variety of activities and services throughout the year. The City lists arts and crafts, bingo, card games, dancing, day trips, group exercise, health and nutrition education, holiday celebrations, music and other programs among its offerings.
