Seagoville residents looking to clear out unwanted items from garages, sheds, yards or around the house can take advantage of the city’s free monthly Third Saturday Clean Up this weekend.
The City of Seagoville will provide free access to city-sponsored dumpsters from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Seagoville Service Center, 101 N. Watson. The cleanup program is offered on the third Saturday of each month for Seagoville residents.
Residents using the service must bring a City of Seagoville water or trash bill and a driver’s license. Both are required to verify residency before items can be disposed of at the site.
City officials also remind participants that staffing at the cleanup site is limited. Residents are responsible for making their own arrangements to unload the trash and debris they bring to the Service Center.
Some Items Cannot Be Accepted
The Third Saturday collection does not accept tires, appliances containing Freon or household hazardous chemical waste. That means residents should not bring items such as certain refrigerators or air-conditioning equipment containing Freon, or chemicals and other hazardous materials, to the cleanup site.
Seagoville residents who need to dispose of household hazardous waste can instead use the Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center. Seagoville is specifically listed among the communities eligible for the county’s free household hazardous-waste service.
The Dallas County facility accepts household chemical products and is located at 11234 Plano Road in Dallas. Residents of participating cities are asked to bring a driver’s license along with a water bill or other utility bill showing proof of address.
Dallas County’s program can be particularly useful for materials such as liquid paint, stains, household chemicals and similar products that should not be placed in the city’s Third Saturday dumpsters.
A Monthly Opportunity to Declutter
The cleanup program gives residents a recurring opportunity to dispose of bulky trash and other unwanted debris without waiting for a major community cleanup event.
For residents tackling a garage cleanout, yard project or household decluttering job, city officials recommend sorting items before arriving so prohibited materials can be kept separate.
