Seagoville Middle School will welcome incoming students to campus for its sixth- and seventh-grade orientation on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
The orientation will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and is designed to help students become familiar with the school before the beginning of the 2026–2027 academic year.
All incoming sixth-grade students are invited to attend. The event is also open to eligible seventh-grade students who completed sixth grade at an elementary campus.
During the afternoon, students will have an opportunity to meet their teachers, tour the campus and learn more about student life at Seagoville Middle School. The event is intended to make the transition to middle school less intimidating by allowing students to explore the building and begin forming connections before classes begin.
Entering middle school can bring significant changes for students, including moving between classrooms, following a new daily schedule, meeting multiple teachers and navigating a larger campus. Attending orientation gives students time to become more comfortable with those changes in a relaxed setting.
The campus tour can help students locate important areas such as classrooms, stairways, the library and other frequently used spaces. Learning the layout in advance may reduce first-day confusion and give students greater confidence when the school year begins.
Students will also be introduced to aspects of campus life and the expectations that come with becoming a Seagoville Middle School Dragon. Families are encouraged to use the event as an opportunity to ask questions and gather information that may help students prepare for the year ahead.
Meeting teachers before the first day can be especially helpful for students who are nervous about entering a new school environment. Even a brief introduction can provide a familiar face when students arrive for their first full day of classes.
Parents and guardians should make transportation arrangements that allow students to participate throughout the scheduled orientation period. Families may also want to prepare questions in advance about schedules, classroom procedures, campus activities and other topics that will help their children make a successful transition.
