CRANDALL, Texas — Three people were arrested after a burglary of a habitation in Crandall on Monday, January 18, 2016.
The burglary occurred at a home in the 200 block of South 6th Street between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. while nobody was home, according to then Crandall Police Department Chief Billy Kilgore.
Kilgore said one person was arrested that same night in connection with the burglary, and all the stolen property was recovered. Through further investigation, Kilgore said two more suspects were arrested on Friday, January 22, 2016.
Arrested were Marshall Good, Raymond Chapman, and Steven Morris. Good was charged with burglary of a habitation and was being held at the Kaufman County Jail on a $25,000 bond. Morris was charged with burglary of a habitation and was awaiting arraignment. Chapman had not yet been booked at the time but was facing a similar charge for burglary of a habitation.
Editor’s Note: Billy Kilgore, who served as Crandall’s police chief at the time of this case, later resigned from the department in 2016. In 2018, he was arrested and subsequently indicted on charges including theft of a firearm by a public servant and tampering with evidence, stemming from missing weapons and cash tied to the department’s evidence room.
