CRANDALL — Downtown Main Street will welcome costumed children and decorated vehicles on Halloween evening as Crandall hosts its annual Trunk-or-Treat, with free admission and three hours of activities.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. along Main Street between Holly and Gleason streets. The city lists the address as 110 S. Main St.
Families can expect decorated trunks, Halloween displays, music and candy for children. Costumes are encouraged for all ages.
Main Street will close to through traffic during event hours to create a pedestrian area. The city identifies surrounding downtown lots, including the Brookshire’s parking lot, as parking options.
Families should allow time to park and walk to the celebration.
Residents and organizations planning to distribute treats must register their trunks in advance.
Space is limited, and the city welcomes businesses, churches, nonprofits, school organizations and community groups.
Trunk participants should arrive at 4 p.m. for setup and remain through the event unless city staff directs otherwise.
They must supply their own decorations, candy and other materials, maintain displays suitable for children and follow staff instructions.
The registration form asks participants to avoid excessively graphic or gory themes.
The city is accepting candy donations, but trunk hosts should bring enough supplies for their own displays; donated candy is not guaranteed.
For families with accessibility needs, the calendar marks the event “ADA: Yes.”
However, the reviewed event materials do not specify accessible parking locations, restroom arrangements or a designated accessible route.
Families needing those details or particular accommodations should contact the city before attending.
Weather planning also deserves attention. As of Oct. 20, the reviewed calendar listing and event page do not publish a rain date, indoor alternative or specific cancellation procedure.
Families should check the city’s calendar and event page again before leaving home, especially if the forecast calls for storms.
The calendar offers a “Notify Me” subscription option for community event notifications.
Parents can prepare by bringing a treat bag, choosing costumes that allow comfortable walking and clear visibility, and agreeing on a meeting place if family members become separated.
Families managing food allergies should inspect treats before children eat them.
