The Seagoville Public Library has three recurring programs scheduled for Oct. 5 to 11. The Crandall Combine Community Library has no special event posted this week, but its next Children’s Story Time is set for Oct. 20.
Fiber Arts Opens the Week
The Seagoville Public Library starts the week with its monthly Fiber Arts Club on Monday, Oct. 5, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The club meets on the first Monday of each month and is open to all ages and experience levels.
Participants should bring a current project and their own supplies, such as knitting, crochet or another portable craft. The library also encourages people to bring extra materials to share.
Preschool Story Time Wednesday
Story Time is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m. The program is for children ages 3 to 5 and meets every Wednesday during the school year.
The free morning session gives parents, grandparents and caregivers a local activity that helps young children get comfortable with books and group settings.
Homeschool Hangout Thursday
Homeschool Hangout follows on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. at the Seagoville Public Library. The school age program began in September and meets on Thursdays during the school year.
Together with Wednesday’s Story Time, it gives the library two straight mornings of children’s programming. Homeschool families also get a chance to spend time with other local students.
Teen Night and Chess Club
Teen Night and the Seagoville Chess Club are not on this week’s schedule. Teen Night is for ages 13 to 17 and normally meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The library’s holiday schedule lists a closure on Monday, Oct. 12, for Columbus Day. That is the regular second Monday meeting date, so families should watch for an announcement from the library.
Chess Club meets on the second and fourth Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and is recommended for ages 8 and older. Under that schedule, the next meeting falls on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
Services at Seagoville
The library holds more than 30,000 print, audiovisual and digital materials. These include large print books, magazines, DVDs, WiFi hotspots, research databases and ebooks.
Through the Northeast Texas Digital Consortium, patrons can also borrow thousands of digital ebooks and audiobooks. Public computers are available, and residents who only need computer access can ask about a computer pass.
A library card requires identification and proof of residency. The library also participates in the statewide TexShare program.

Story Time Schedule in Crandall
The Crandall Combine Community Library lists its October Children’s Story Time for Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. September had two sessions, while October has one published date.
The schedule for the 2026 and 2027 school year continues with Story Time on Nov. 10 and Dec. 8. A separate holiday event is set for Dec. 5, and sessions resume in January, February, March and April.
Saturday Hours in Crandall
The Crandall Combine library is open Saturday mornings, which helps families who cannot visit during the workweek. School year hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The library is closed Sunday.
The library is at 500 W. Lewis St. in Crandall. It offers books, computers, WiFi, an online catalog, digital resources and library card services. The phone number is 972-427-6120.
Two Approaches, One Goal
Seagoville builds its calendar around recurring weekly and monthly programs for different age groups. Crandall Combine keeps fewer events on its near term calendar but has set its Story Time dates well into the school year.
Both libraries offer low cost options for families, students and readers. Residents do not need to wait for a special event to use them.
