Senior Citizen Report: Lunch, Karaoke and Dominoes Highlight the Week

Seagoville seniors have another full week of meals, games, music and fellowship ahead at the Seagoville Senior Center.

The center, located at 304 E. Farmers Road, is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and welcomes residents age 60 and older. Seniors can stop by to meet the staff, pick up an activity schedule or take part in one of the center’s regular weekly programs.

Lunch Served Monday Through Thursday

Lunch is served at 11 a.m. Monday through Thursday.

Meals are contribution-based, with a recommended contribution of $1 per meal for participants who have an application on file. The only age requirement is that participants be 60 or older.

Here is this week’s menu:

Monday, Aug. 24 — Baked Chicken
Baked chicken with poultry gravy, whipped potatoes, herbed green beans, Texas bread, tropical fruit and milk.

Tuesday, Aug. 25 — Turkey Taco
Turkey taco with Mexican rice, Mexican-style tomatoes, flour tortilla, white chocolate cranberry cookie, milk and taco sauce.

Wednesday, Aug. 26 — Chicken Stir Fry
Chicken stir fry over jasmine rice with sliced carrots, sweet-and-sour cabbage, fresh apple and milk.

Thursday, Aug. 27 — Italian Beef Macaroni

Dominoes and “42” Every Monday and Wednesday

Looking for a cool place to spend the afternoon and enjoy a friendly game?

The Senior Center hosts Dominoes and “42” every Monday and Wednesday from 2–4 p.m.

That means games are scheduled this week for Monday, Aug. 24, and Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Players of all experience levels are welcome, whether they are longtime “42” regulars or simply looking for an afternoon activity and a chance to visit with others.

Karaoke Tuesdays and Thursdays

Seniors can also grab the microphone — or simply enjoy the show — during the center’s regular karaoke afternoons.

Karaoke is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 1–3 p.m., including Tuesday, Aug. 25, and Thursday, Aug. 27 this week.

You do not have to sing to participate. Seniors who would rather listen, visit and support the performers are just as welcome.

A Place to Stay Active and Connected

The Seagoville Senior Center offers more than meals. Its weekly activities provide local seniors with a place to socialize, meet new people and enjoy time away from home in a comfortable setting.

Anyone age 60 or older who has not visited the center is encouraged to stop by during regular hours and ask for the latest schedule of activities.

The Seagoville Senior Center is located at 304 E. Farmers Road, Seagoville, TX 75159. For more information, call 972-287-4113.

The senior center and food program are supported, in part, by the Community Council of Greater Dallas/Dallas Area Agency on Aging, Texas Health and Human Services and the City of Seagoville.
