A congregation on South Main Street marks 143 years in Crandall with a cappella worship, a full slate of ministries for every generation, and a new auditorium taking shape on its own property.
Our Local Church Tour series continues on South Main Street in Crandall, where the Crandall Church of Christ has carried on a New Testament faith tradition since January of 1883.
For more than sixty years the congregation has gathered along Main Street, and today the church is preparing for its next chapter with a new auditorium designed to seat more than 240 worshippers.
The congregation describes itself as an active church of the Lord that strives to practice pure and simple New Testament Christianity, with no creed except the Bible and no head except Christ.
In the spring of 2025, the church’s elders began construction on a new auditorium on the congregation’s existing property, a project meant to give the growing Kaufman County congregation more room to meet and worship together each week.

Sunday mornings begin with Bible Class at 9:30 a.m., followed by worship at 10:30 a.m. featuring a cappella singing and communion, a hallmark of Church of Christ tradition.
The congregation returns for evening worship at 6:00 p.m., and Wednesday evenings bring Bible Study at 7:00 p.m. Services are complemented by age appropriate Bible classes led by dedicated teachers and ministers of the congregation.
Who They AreThe Crandall Church of Christ believes in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and describes itself as a New Testament church that strives to practice in the same manner as the First Century Christians.
The congregation points to its home in what it calls the fastest growing county in the nation as motivation to grow alongside its Kaufman County neighbors, with outreach that includes Vacation Bible School, blood drives, car washes, and Fifth Sunday luncheons, all in service of what members describe as the command to go and make disciples.

The congregation’s deacons serve alongside the elders in the day to day life of the church.
Bill Burk
Bill has served as pulpit minister for the Crandall Church of Christ for more than a decade. He teaches an adult class on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, and also teaches at the Brown Trail School of Preaching.
Jake Whiteley
Jake was raised in the Crandall Church of Christ and has served on the ministry team since 2018, focusing on youth and young adult ministry. He graduated from Oklahoma Christian University in 2017 with a double major in vocational ministry, and also teaches third grade in Kaufman.
Sunday Worship
Bible Class at 9:30 a.m. leads into worship at 10:30 a.m. with a cappella singing and communion, followed by evening worship at 6:00 p.m.
Children & Youth Ministry
Early Childhood, Elementary, and Middle and High School classes take students through Scripture at every age. The year’s highlight is a week at Texoma Youth Camp each summer, and the church also produces a Bible Time With Bonnie video series for young children on its YouTube channel.
Vacation Bible School
An annual week long VBS welcomes classes for all ages. This year’s session ran the evenings of July 6 through 10, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
College & Young Adult Ministry
Members between the ages of 18 and 30 or older meet each Sunday and Wednesday for fellowship and learning as they develop and mature their faith together.
Sisters In Christ
The Ladies Bible Class gathers every first and third Monday evening of the month to study the most influential women in Scripture.
Community Outreach
Vacation Bible School, blood drives, car washes, and Fifth Sunday luncheons keep the congregation connected to its fast growing Kaufman County community.
