Community Spotlight: Seagoville Chamber of Commerce

From welcoming a new business to town to organizing some of Seagoville’s biggest community celebrations, the Seagoville Chamber of Commerce operates where business development and community life meet.

The organization focuses on strengthening the local business community, promoting commerce and helping improve quality of life in Seagoville. Its work includes connecting businesses, supporting local economic activity, partnering with civic organizations and creating events that bring residents and businesses together.

Connecting Seagoville’s Business Community

For a small business owner, joining a chamber of commerce can provide something that is difficult to build alone: connections.

The Seagoville Chamber works with businesses and community partners while helping welcome new enterprises to the city. Ribbon cuttings give new and expanding businesses an opportunity to introduce themselves to the community, while Chamber activities provide opportunities for business owners to meet other local leaders and become more involved in Seagoville.

The Seagoville Economic Development Corporation identifies the Chamber as one of its business-support and advocacy partners, noting its role in networking, community events, local commerce and collaboration.

That relationship puts the Chamber alongside organizations working to make Seagoville an attractive place to open, operate and grow a business.

More Than Business Meetings

Residents may know the Chamber best through the events it helps put on throughout the year.

Mayfest brought carnival rides, food, shopping and entertainment to Seagoville this spring. In July, the Chamber presented Fireworks in the Park in partnership with the City of Seagoville and Seagoville Economic Development Corporation.

The next major date on the calendar is one of the city’s signature celebrations.

The Chamber is preparing for the 40th annual Seagofest, scheduled for Oct. 1–4. The long-running October festival traditionally transforms C.O. Bruce Central Park into a gathering place for a parade, carnival, live entertainment, food, arts and crafts, a car show and other activities.

For local businesses, events of that size can mean more than entertainment. Vendors gain a place to meet customers, sponsors receive community exposure and participating businesses become part of an event attended by residents from across the area.

The Annual Auction

The Chamber also has an annual Civic Auction — and the 2026 edition included the dinner and silent auction.

This year’s “Tacos and Tunes” Civic Auction was held April 11 at Mr. Oyster Bar and Mexican Grill. The evening featured dinner, live music, silent-auction items and a cash bar.

Tickets were $40 per person, while reserved tables for eight were offered for $300.

The Civic Auction serves as a Chamber fundraiser while creating another opportunity for businesses and residents to support community activities and spend an evening together.

The People Behind the Chamber

Community organizations depend on people willing to organize events, recruit businesses, coordinate sponsors and handle countless details that most visitors never see.

The Chamber’s most recent publicly available federal filing covers 2024 and lists Michael McDaniel as president, Chris Prater as president-elect, and Craig McLemore as vice president.

Ritha Edwards has also been a longtime public face of the organization. Edwards has served in management roles over the years, and continues her work for the organization.

Behind those names is a broader network of Chamber members, participating businesses, event sponsors and volunteers whose involvement makes projects such as Mayfest, the Civic Auction and Seagofest possible.
