Fall sports move into a busy week for Seagoville and Crandall high school athletes, with volleyball matches, cross-country competition and preseason football scrimmages scheduled from Aug. 17-22.
Here is this week’s Prep Sports Calendar for the Dragons and Pirates.
Tuesday, Aug. 18
Seagoville Girls Volleyball — at Conrad, 7 p.m.
The Lady Dragons take their 6-1 record on the road to face Conrad. Seagoville enters the match on a five-match winning streak following tournament victories over South Garland, Wilmer-Hutchins and Ferris on Saturday.
Crandall Girls Volleyball — at Dallas Roosevelt, 6:30 p.m.
The Lady Pirates travel to Dallas for a non-district matchup with Roosevelt. Crandall ISD lists JV Gold and JV Black matches at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity match at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 20
Crandall Football — vs. Woodrow Wilson, scrimmage
The Pirates get another preseason test when Woodrow Wilson visits Crandall. Crandall ISD lists freshman, JV and varsity scrimmage activity from 5 to 9 p.m. Hudl also lists the Aug. 20 matchup as Crandall’s next varsity football event.
The scrimmage comes one week after Crandall’s preseason work against Mesquite Horn and gives the Pirates another opportunity to evaluate personnel before the regular season begins.
Friday, Aug. 21
Crandall Boys and Girls Cross Country — Run With The Lions, Kaufman
The Pirates’ boys and girls cross-country runners head to the Kaufman Sports Complex for the Kaufman Run With The Lions meet. Crandall ISD lists the event from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with individual race times to be announced. Crandall is also listed among the registered teams for the 5A-6A competition.
Seagoville Girls Volleyball — tournament play
The Lady Dragons return to tournament action with two matches currently listed on the varsity schedule:
- vs. Ford — 2 p.m.
- vs. Red Oak — 4 p.m.
Both matches are listed as tournament contests. Tournament pairings and times can change, so fans planning to attend should check for any day-of updates.
Crandall Girls Volleyball — at Coppell, 6:30 p.m.
Crandall closes its volleyball week with a road match against Coppell. Coppell’s official athletic schedule lists JV at 5:30 p.m. and varsity at 6:30 p.m. inside the Coppell High School Arena.
Saturday, Aug. 22
Seagoville Football — at Mesquite, scrimmage
The Dragons are scheduled for preseason work at Mesquite on Saturday, Aug. 22. A start time was not included in the schedule information available online as of Sunday night. The scrimmage comes one week before Seagoville’s regular-season opener at Palestine on Aug. 28.
Seagoville Cross Country Has Open Week
No Seagoville boys or girls cross-country meet is currently listed for Aug. 17-23.
The Dragons are next registered for the 41st Annual Greenhill Luke’s Locker Six-Mile Relay on Saturday, Aug. 29, at Norbuck Park in Dallas. The varsity boys race begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by the varsity girls at 7:35 a.m.
