Final Day to Vote for Seagoville High School’s Greatest Running Back
Friday is the scheduled final day of the Shop in Seagoville poll asking residents, former players, alumni and football fans to select the greatest running back in Seagoville High School history.
The monthlong online competition includes 13 former Dragons representing several generations of Seagoville football. Only one vote is accepted per IP address, and final results will be published after the poll closes. Readers should vote as early as possible because the poll is scheduled to end July 31.

First Saturday Bird Tour at the Wetland Center

Beginning and intermediate birdwatchers can join master birders for the First Saturday Walk and Talk Bird Tour. Participants will learn how to use binoculars and field guides, maintain a birding life list and identify species found throughout the wetland.
The program is recommended for ages 10 and older. The route includes uneven surfaces, so visitors are encouraged to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Binoculars may be checked out with a driver’s license.
August Dollar Days at John Bunker Sands

Saturday is also the first day of the Wetland Center’s August Dollar Days promotion. Admission will be only $1 throughout August, giving families an inexpensive opportunity to explore the exhibits, boardwalk, trails, wildlife habitats and wetland landscape.
Visitors who enjoy nature photography may also bring a camera and participate in the center’s photography contest. The contest remains open through Aug. 31, although registration and compliance with the published photography rules are required. The Wetland Center is closed Sundays and Mondays.
Sundress and Sandals Soiree Scholarship Brunch
