The adopted budgets for the 2025–2026 fiscal year show how Seagoville and Crandall divide local tax dollars among public safety and street services.
Seagoville budgets $21.16 million in General Fund expenditures. Crandall budgets $12.19 million.
Because the cities organize some services differently, the dollar amounts should not be treated as perfect department-to-department comparisons.
Police Spending
Seagoville budgets $4,625,789 for its Police Department. That represents approximately 21.9 percent of the city’s General Fund expenditures.
Crandall budgets $3,783,333 for police, or approximately 31 percent of its General Fund.
Seagoville spends $842,456 more in total dollars. However, Crandall commits a larger percentage of its General Fund to police services.
Compared with the previous budget, police funding increased approximately 13.8 percent in Seagoville and 17.1 percent in Crandall.
Fire Protection
Seagoville budgets $4,500,027 for its Fire Department. That equals approximately 21.3 percent of General Fund spending.
Crandall’s adopted budget lists $602,791 under its fire category, representing approximately 4.9 percent of the General Fund.
The Crandall amount appears entirely under a budget line identified as FD Sales Tax. It is not presented as a detailed operating budget comparable to Seagoville’s staffed municipal fire department.
Seagoville’s fire allocation is approximately $3.9 million higher, but the different funding structures make a direct comparison difficult.
Street Spending
Seagoville budgets $730,096 for its regular Streets program. That is approximately 3.5 percent of General Fund expenditures and an increase of about 28.3 percent from the previous budget.
The city also budgets $1 million through a separate Street Maintenance Fund. Together, those two identified street categories total approximately $1.73 million.
Crandall combines streets and parks into one department with a budget of $220,500.
The Crandall budget also includes $300,000 for street drainage and $475,000 for street repairs under its Administration Department.
Those Crandall categories total $995,500, or approximately 8.2 percent of General Fund spending. However, part of the $220,500 Streets/Parks budget supports parks rather than streets.
The Overall Comparison
Seagoville’s police, fire and regular Streets departments total $9,855,912. That represents approximately 46.6 percent of its General Fund expenditures.
Crandall’s police, fire and combined Streets/Parks categories total $4,606,624, or approximately 37.8 percent of its General Fund.
Adding Crandall’s separate street-repair and drainage projects raises that total to $5,381,624, or approximately 44.2 percent.
The budgets show that Seagoville spends considerably more in total dollars, particularly on fire protection. Crandall dedicates a larger share of its smaller General Fund to police and places much of its street-project funding outside the regular Streets/Parks department.
